Two Hundred Summoned For
Stock Fraud Trial

Chicago, Oct.' 23.—Some of the 100
witnesses arrived here today to
testify in the trial of the Pan
Motor company's officials and di-
rectors. opening before Judge K. M.
Landis.
Judge Sylvester R. Rush, assist-
ant attorney general will take the
opening statement for the govern-
ment.
Indictments charging that Samuel
C. Pandolfo, president of the com-
pany and 12 others, officials and
directors, used the malls to defraud,
were returned by the grand jury
last spring.
Concern.
The company is a (5,000,000 cor
poration, which, according to
literature and letters submitted to
the grand jury, was organized for

the manufacture of "tank tread"
tractors and "Pan" automobiles.
It was alleged that stock to the
amount of (<,000,000 was sold thru-
out 27 different states In the cen
tral and western parts of the
ccuntry.
The indictment charged that
certain portions of the subscrip
tlons allotted to a "surplus fund"
to further the manufacture of the
Pan automobile found,, their way
into the pockets of officials of the
company. It was also charged that
the company never sold or manu-
factured tractors.
One tractor. It is said, was plan-
ned to aid In the sale of stock
and for advertising purposes.
