ing hi* campaign, n a railroad
pans and asking the pood farm-
ers to cast their voles for him.
We say, cut I lose from the cor-
porations, show a clean skirt,
— llol>ari Republican.
The above article is from the j
Ilobar^Republican. Our frienls,
Benedict and UalHton, are cer-
tainly getting out of their heads.
The people of this county well
remember Joe Terral's work
against the lumber trusts and
other institutions and they know
that the Honorable Joe Terral is
opposed to trusts, and will in the
legislature Mand h.-a.J and shoul-
ders above them all as a legisla-
tor of the people. We are more
than pleased to see .loe get back

in li ■ will be .1 va-t benefit to the
people of Oklahoma. There is
no doubt that he will be elected
and by a splendid majority.
The Hobart Republican should
confine itself to the facts and not
print stuff just to see it in print.
Joe Terral is a Democrat, true
and tried, opposed to trusts and
will stand in the legislature in
the interests of the people. We
want the people of Kiowa oounty
to rally in this eleotion and re-
member that it is the rights of
the people that is at stake, and
cast their votes accordingly.
One J. V. Faulkner was nomi-
nated by the Democratic party
for representative from Kiowa
oounty. To be elected he will
need every vote he can possibly
secure, as his constituency is
fairly well informed as to his
misrepresentation of Kiowa
eounty during the last legisla-
ture, and later we want to review
with you in these columns Mime
•f his votes on important meas-
ures, and we would like to have
you over with us his good-roads
measure. All the farmers are
«ise now, but others not si vi-
tally interested may not have
heard of it.— Hobart Republican.
The Hobart Republican is
singling out the Democratic can-
didates and irrespebtive of truth
attacking them. The Hon. J. V.
Faulkner in the last legislature
made a splendid record and was
one of the strongest men in the
legislature. In the coming ses-
sion he will be well placed on
committees and be in a position
to do something for Kiowa oounty
and all of Oklahoma' Mr. Faulk-
ner is very much in favor of the
building of good roads and there
ia nothing that is of more inter-
est to the people of the state. The
bill that Mr. Faulkner introduced
in the la°t legislature, he saw-
did not cover the ground and was
not popular, so he did not force
it, but 1 want to call the atten-
tion of the people of Kiowa
oounty to this fact, that it will
i nly be a matter of a ehort time

Hawkins
Sitting beside his counsel, with
his tHjyish face twitching and
hands nervously clasped, Klmer
Huwkind ha-i for four days lis-
tened to testimony and argu-
ments which may send his soul
to the judg l ent seat of his Mak-
er. The counsel for the defense f
have built an exceptionally strung
case in behalf of their <-lient but
the evidence shown by the
clothes worn by the victim, Lon
Nelson, and the testimony of
several witnosses, along^with the
matter- >f-fact argument pre-
sented by the state's attorney
and his assistant left but little
doubt of the guilt of the accused
man. The killing took place |
near Roosevelt, Novemoer 20, of!
last year arid the testimony
shows tha: there was little or no
grounds for the murder. Lon
Nelson was shot four times, two
of the bullets ^striking .hitn in the
back as he was running away
from Hawkins. Hawkins evaded ,
the officers until May of the pres-
ent year and was arrested near
his father's home at Greenville, I
Texas. The case wa^ given to
the jury at 10:30 tonight after
the closing argument by Hon. H.
L. Stand even, who with his as-
sistant, Hon. Obcar Simpson,had
charge of the state's oase. The
defendant was represented by
Judge Wood, of Greenville, Tex.,
and Hon. Tom Conner of Hobart.
Up to press time the jury is still
out and no verdiat has been ren-
dered. -M* V
Th< people of Oklahoma who
remember the prico asked for the
last territorial session laws will
ap| reciate the economical meth-
ods of the Democratic adminis-
tration when they pay for the ses-
sion laws of the first state legis-
lature. Under territorial gov-
ernment the session laws of the
legislature were sold for So, heat
binding, and S3, in imitation.
Under the present administration
the session law of the Democratic
legislature can be bought for $1
in beat binding and 3oc in paper
binding. Thia volume contains
all the laws enacted by the first
legislature of the new state and
is two and one-half times as
large a book as the one Bold by
the territorial grafters at five
timea the prioe. The people
throughout the state are entitled
to know what is done by their
representatives and this action of
the present administration make9
it possible for every man to buy
a copy of the session laws. The
books are ready for delivery and
may be had by anyone pending
in the money. Address your or-
der for the session laws to Sec-

of the stalwart Democrats of the

and we certainly appreciate his

that there will be passed through
congress before long a bill which
authorises the national govern-
ment to spend as much money as
any state government in the
making of roads. In other words,
if the state government appro*
priates $500,000 for the building
of roads, the national govern-
ment will donate the same
amount to that state.
Mr. Faulkner will be re-elected
as one of our representatives snd
will build upon the splendid rec-
ord that he has already made.
He will be one of the strongest
men of the legislature and in a
position to do a world of good to
the people cf the atate of Okla-

Mr. James MaMurrough, of
Cooperton, and hia brother drop-
ped in to see us today while they
were in our thriving city attend-
ing to some business affairs. Mr.
MeMurrough's brother is heie on
a visit and is very favorably im-
pressed with the progressive
spirit which predominates in Ho-
bart. In speaking of political
affairs, Mr. McMurrough said
that the boasted 100,000 Bryan
majority in Texas was a very
conservative estimate and he
thought it might run up to 150,-
000 if Mr. Bryan really needed
it.

without making a fuss about it."
