IN THRIFT STAMPS
i f v.
There are 15 ads on this page, which represent 15 of
our progressive merchants and business men, and these
ads will appear each week for 15 weeks. Each week one
of the ads will contain a word that will be "misspelled,"
which we will select. The party finding the word, and
clipping the ad and taking it to the place of business
which it is advertising first, gets the Thrift Stamps, di-
vided as follows: 4 to the person residing in the town of
Hollis, and 4 to the person residing in the country
or any other town in Harmon County, but you must go
in person and present the word.
The word which we will select will be sealed in an en-
velope with an order for the Stamps, and the word you
claim is "misspelled" must correspond with the word in
the sealed envelope.
No man carrying one of these ads will be allowed to
contest for the money. The names of the winners will
appear here each week.
Winners last week: Velma Tice and Murriel Tice.
Dascomb-Daniels
Nine years in business in Hollis and
enjoying the confidence and respect
of the citizens of the city and county.
Have one of the largest, most coven-
ient yards and most complete lumber
stocks in the southwest. Call and in-
spect when needing building material.
The main office of the Dascomb-Daniels Lumber Co. is
at Kansas City, Mo., with many branch yards in the south-
western states; and Hollis branch yard is one of the most
important in the smaller Oklahoma cities.
The Dascomb-Daniels Lumber Co. began business in
Hollis about 1909 with J. H. Chappell as manager, continu-
ing in that capacity until 1912, when he was succeeded by
the present manager, R. M. Phillips.
The yard was first located just south of its present lo-
cation, on the next block; but realizing that the main-
street location was a much more desirable one they pur-
chased property on that street and moved onto it about four
years ago. They have erected one of the most convenient
yards in the southwest, and have enjoyed and are now en-
joying a most prosperous business, which is due to the fact
- that the company has for its local manager a man who un-
derstands the lumber business as thoroughly as any man
in Oklahoma, and who treats his customers with such aim-
able courtesy as to insure a continuance of their patronage.
Mr. Phillips represents a firm here that has always
contributed its part toward the upbuilding and bet-
terment of our city and county, and he owns one of the
nicest homes here, a recent addition in the northwest part
of the city.
Following out the Fuel Administrators instructions,
Mr. Phillips is doing his utmost to induce his customers to
lay in their next winter's supply of coal, not for any mere
mercenary motive, but for the reason he wishes to aid you
to avoid the disappointment which may be yours if you
wait until winter to supply your coal needs. The experi-
ence of our citizens during the winter just past is too fresh
in their, minds to need further inducement to act early.
Don't neglect to buy, thinking your dealer will store
enough to fill the needs of his customers, for that is impos-
sible. The outlook now is that next fall the railroads will
be taxed to the limit transporting troops and supplies for
Uncle Sam, and.it may be a difficult matter to get any kind
of freight into our city. We advise everyone to purchase
fuel now, and thereby avoid possible suffering from cold
next winter. A word to the wise is sufficient. Govern
yourselves accordingly.
