ticles Mrs Atherotn sent and re-
minded each girl to bring her
sewing box and material for Home
Improvement projects She also
reminded them to try three re-
cipes in their manuals
New members were Linda Lou

ders and Suzie Hasting During

plained how he made his pot holder

4-H Club was held recently In
the girls’ meeting plans were dis-
cussed for craft work and what
each one is to make in the 4-H
home improvement work W e
played some games and learned
how to design various articles such
as pans bottles collars ties and
etc
The boys studied grubs in cattle
and how the cattlemen can dispose
of them The grubs start by fly
and end up as a worm in the cat-
tle's back A movie was shown on
this project and we learned how
they ruin beef Some of the mem-
bers received medals for outstand-
ing club work on January 4 at

Shows Gain
Enrollment in the Durant public
schools for the first semester of
the 1955-56 term was 2327 com-
pared with 2273 during the first
semester last year a gain of 54
Garland Godfrey superintendent
announced today All schools ex-
cept Robert E Lee showed enroll-
ment gams
Schools and their comparative
figuies with this year’s enrollment
listed first were high school 459-
443 junior h'gh 569-562 Washing-
ton Irving 549-517 R E Lee 257-

and Russell 182-159
Average daily attendance how-
ever fell off during the first se-
mester This was attributed to
much more unfavorable weather
this year than was experienced a
year ago Mr Godfrey said

this year was 2013 compared with
2028 last year Average daily at-
tendance in the two high schools
was above last year however
