The Elk City Coursing Associa-
tion held a meet Thanksgiving Day
that proved to be their best meet
of the season for both attendance
and high class dogs They had
twenty-four of the very best dogs
in Western Oklahoma and Texas
Reckless Arcadia belonging to
Frank Brunk of Sentinel Okla
was the winner Pal 0' Mine be-
longing to C C Baker of Elk City
was runner-up These two dogs are
litter mates and were bought at
the Ft Worth Texas meet only
a few weeks ago Both men are to
be congratulated on owning such
racing greyhounds
Tip O' Quality late from Texas
who belongs to C E Wagner had
a little bad luck in going though
the fence which probably lost her
the meet Ralph Akford brought
Palo Doro and Amaryllis from
Amarillo Texas who sure has two
mighty nice looking young grey-
hounds I L Weatherly did the
slipping and did real well for his
experience B Walker is getting
to be about the best judge we ever
saw for the practice he has had
about two decisions is all the crowd
has ever accused him of missing in
all his work and if they had been
on the horse they would probably
have seen it just as Walker did

That the representations were
fairly done was evidenced by the
fact the audience correctly named
each scene as it was given
The lartrest attendance 105 yet
recorded was there last night with
credit mainly to the Business Men's
Bible Class Mr L A Ballard the
president to them was delegated
the job of getting the people there
and they did it the best up to date
The usual teaching force was on
hand except that Mrs Frank
Mitcham substituted for Miss Sum
mers who was sick

Mr Moser's subject will be "Co-operative Marketing" He
addressed the Southwestern meeting of the United States
Chamber of Commerce at Oklahoma City Tuesday on this
subject Mr Moser is a forceful speaker and while his message
will be of especial interest to farmers bankers and merchants
doing business in the cotton territory will also want to hear him

for the Cotton Growers and J T tieall chairman of the Agricultural
Committee for the tAk City Chamber of Commerce left Monday after
noon to take it all in
Mr Moser will make only four speeches in the state lead ine cotton
centers being chosen and Elk City is luckily one of these places He
will speaK at the High school Auditorium Saturday December 5 at 8:30

miles from Sayre having let it be
known that they were coming with

WIN FIRST PRIZES
Mr and Mrs J H Nischwitz at
tended the Roger Mills County
Poultry Show at Strong City last
week Mr and Mrs Nischwitz have
some fine Rhode Island Red birds
which won first premium in every
thing in Class 1 There were six
sweeps in all and his birds won
four There were 400 birds in the
show They purchased a fine Rhode
Island Red cockerel last spring at
Joplin Missouri out of the best
laying strain in the world It's
egg record for one year being 267

lodge last Wednesday night Wm
Henke was installed as exalted

Story were elected as trustees in
lieu of Mr Henke and R L Reid
The lodge voted to place the
letting of the hall in the hands of
any two of the trustees and that
the minimum rental shall be $10
They also voted there shall be no
more open house dances and here-
after there will be many invitation
dances The usual New Year's
dance will be given and the invi
tations will apply then too
The lodge is now in good finan
cial shape and will put on the
usual holiday drive for new mem-

The annual Prayer and Praise
Service of the Women's Mission

in the past year

Siam Mrs Tracy attempted to
bring out the splendid results of

among the lepers Siam has
population of over nine million
people and it is of unusual inter
est to Presbyterians since that

God" was enjoyed by all present

closed the service with a "Thanks
giving Catechism" and a beautiful
message of thanksgiving
The pleasure of the service was

Wild Turkey Dinner
Ye editor and family enjoyed
Thanksgiving immensely as guests
of Mr and Mrs J K Sharer we
had wild turkey and all the trim-
mings Mrs Shafer cooked the big
wild bird to a perfection after hav
mg been advised of many ways to
do it by her own family We must
say it was the best turkey either
tame or wild we have ever set
our teeth into and the first bite
reminded us of a time years ago
when we had some bear meat It
had that wild taste that we love
Pictures were taken of the table
turkey and guests before and
after Radio music was enjoyed in
the afternoon
Mrs Shafer's father and sister
and Mr Shafer's father also were
there and all the kiddies

Shafer Machine Shop
J R Shafer wishes to announce
the change in the name of his busi-
ness from Tesmar Machine Shop to
Shafer Machine Shop effective
January 1 1926
Mr Shafer bought the Tesmar
Machine Shop from Otto Tesmar
about seven years ago and has so
far retained the old name He ex-
pects to blot out the old sijrn
shortly and use his name in place
of Tesmars in the future
Mr Shafer has done a very nice
business and expects to build
fine new brick some near day
to take' the place of the old relic
that now adorns that comer
Maddox Remodels
R J Maddox is rebuilding the
fronts of the Service Cleaners and
Martin's Barber Shop Each will
have individual fronts now
Birthday Entertainment
The girls in our neighborhood
gave Vera Faye Ellis a surprise
party in honor oi her seventeenin
birthday We met at her home at
8 o'clock Many games were played
and we enjoyed very good music
which was played by some of the
young men present At about iu
o'clock refreshments were served
All reported a nice time
Thanksgiving Supper
A Thanksgiving supper was given
at Mr and Mrs E F Brannon's
home for a number of relatives
All had a nice time and a lot to eat
Mr and Mrs John Berger and
daughter of Canute were returning
home from Elk City last Thurs-
day evening When about a mile
from home they were going up a
hill Mr Berger was going around
another car Fonse Mason driving
a car came down the hill at the
same time the two cars running
together Mrs Berger was thrown
from the car and her hip broken
and head badly cut and bruished
She was taken to the Tisdal hos-
pital and is getting along as well
as can be expected
Charlie Leeper and Calvin Fox
of Marietta were here recently vis-
iting Mr and Mrs Frank Leeper
and last week they all drove to
Marietta to spend Thanksgiving
with Frank's brother Mr and Mrs
Leeper then visited Frank's mother
and another brother at Macomb
and some friends at Shawnee

John Capp and daughter Mary
Alice of Amarillo Texas spent
the first of the week with Mrs
D McGrady Mrs Green is a sister-in-law
and Mr and Mrs Capp neice

The Old Maids' Convention that
was to have been held December 4
has been postponed until after
Christmas The date will be an-
nounced later
