MR HANEY HERE
President of Haney Fire
Apparatus Company
Arrives in Our
City
Mr E H Haney one of the foremost
inventors of the time arrived last week
and has spent several days here He
has written a short article which we
herewith append and which we be-
lieve worthy of very close attention
To the citizens of Thomas and Com-
munity Kind Friends: — I anion my way
home from Florida to California and
have stopped in your city a few days to
visit with old friends
1 wish to visit with you a few mo-
ments through the columns of this wide
awake and up-to-date newspaper To
meet and converse with its editor is
truly a pleasure
Now for business I have invented
and prefected a fire-lighter and life
saving device which has been completed
and most thoroughly tested by the Fire
Commissioners One hundred fire chiefs
from all over the country were present
at its demonstration and to say that
they were greatly pleased and delight-
ed is saying it in a very mild way
The apparatus is really a steel house
lined with asbestas and driven by its
own power by a high speed engine
which runs 1200 revolutions per minute
when delivering 33 horse power
We have shown the moving pictures
of this appartus at the Princess
theater consisting of 1300 feet of film
which shows the device in actual ser-
vice These pictures were made to
show what the apparatus can really do
in saving the lives of unfortunate peo-
ple trapped in burning tall buildings
and also that it will be the means of
saving millions of dollars worth of
property The appratus complete
weighs about two tons absolutely works
is practicable the experimental stage
is over there are no longer any "its”
or ands” or “maybes” about it
We now swn 31 acres of valuable
land at Tainpa Florida where a fac-
tory will be erected and equipped The
The Sea Board Air Line R R runs
through this very desirable property
We are incorporated for $200000000
and have sold stock to over 100 promi-
nent business people To those who
know a good investment Remember
we have spent over $2300000 so far in
making and prefecting and patenting
this apparatus We now hold patents
in 43 different countries and colonies
all of which are first class
We are now selling our stock to get
the desired capital to manufacture the
finished product We have placed
80000 shares on the market now for
only $300 per share As soon as this is
all gone up this stock will go
Ask F M Shelton who has known
me since childhood Ask your editor
here in Thomas to whom I have shown
my credentials This is a clean cut
business proposition above the slight-
est reproach from any source I have
shown them who are back ' of this
proposition such as the Board of Trade
of Tampa Florida United States fire
commissioners bankers and lawyers
PEOPLE WHO KNOW
A first class business investment
Now listen I have been asked to ex
plain truthfully about this dividend
business Remember that only stock
sold draws interest No dividends ever
paid on Btock in our treasury — No as-
sessments I know this is a square deal
over 100 of my personal friends have
invested in this proposition
If we sell one half of our stock which
would be 300000 shares we would pay
on 500000 shares only This amount
of shares sold would bring us in over
$300000000 and with this amount we
could do business like the Overland
automobile company They employ
7000 men The Ford automobile com-
pany employs an army of 33000 men
and make 300 autos a day — and they
started with only $2800000 capital a
few year? ago Well with 500000
shares sold we would have sufficient
funds to equal these people Wake up
people and get in on something good
Ask Mr Shelton for he has investigat-
ed and knows
Now the market value of each one of
these devices is $000000 We will also
make the auto truck with which to
pull the apparatus from the fire house
to the tire And now to understand just
how it will be possible for us to pay
such enormous dividends I want you
to talk it over with the man who knows
F M Shelton Thomas Oklahoma
R F D No 4 The stock we are sell-
ing is all common stock with no ex-
pense connected therewith after first
payment We feel absolutely confident
that we can demand $2000 a shire and
get it in a very short time
Don't say "Oh I guess it is good I
guess so” — for the love of Mike dou't
think I know it all But I am offering
you the greatest opportunity of your
life to share in the profits that are
sure to come To those who prehaps
are sceptical and possibly think that
in the ordinary parlance I am what is
called "crooked’’ I would ask them to
look up my past life It would be well
to even go as far as the Board of Trade
of Tampa Floria did and now they
are with me with land money and good
will Oive me a square deal as I am
offering you a square deal I have let-
ters and the most convincing proof
RIGHT HERE
If I told you I could really and truly
make you 60 per cent the first year and
$10 a share the second year you would
say that it was hot air or untrue Well
wait and see I know that all who in-
vest in our company will be exceeding-
ly glad
Now I am here and will meet any
committee of business men that have
cash to invest in the best business pro-
position ever offered and will be more
than glad to answer any and all ques-
tions I will prove to you that I am
square and one of the best up-to-date in-
ventors of the present time I have 10
inventions but do not care to boast
about them
Ask Mr Thad Shelton or Mr F M
Shelton both of whom know positively
that this is the greatest opportunity of
a lifetime Their address is Thomas
Oklahoma R F D No 4 Remember
as soon as this block of stock is gone
100000 shares will be told at $300 a
share

The Goose Aid The Geldei Egg
A fable of childhood days tells of a
goose which laid golden eggs If any
person of the present day owned a
goose which laid such kind of eggs
would the goose be killed to bedeck a
dinner table? Not much Yet all over
the country a similar process daily
features the operations at every great
packing house and young calves are
being converted into veal with the same
regularity that the newspapers proclaim
an increasing shortage of beef Possi-
bly some of the calves which find their
way to the market place are dairy
calves and do not affect the beef situa-
tion But it is quite certain that a sub-
stantial number of the calves offered
for slaughter are of the beef type of
cattle At the Oklahoma City stock-
yards Tuesday 523 calves were market-
ed Hence epicures will have much
roast veal and many breaded veal chops
Tomorrow more veal will likely be
marketed: The slaughter continues
the shortage of beef grows During tbe
moments when tbe 623 calves were pass
ing through the local stockyard a man
was selling two cars of beef steers to
the Oklahoma City packing bouses j
the price for euch steer having been in j
excess of $80 as compareed to tbe $ or
$7 which was paid for each of the 623
calves If these calves bad been kept
on an Okluhuina stock farm and brought
to maturity they would see for $80 or
more each instead of the pitiful sum of
$6 or $7 the amount realized Tuesday
We talk much about tbe high cost of
living especially the cost of beef Sell-
ing calves is helping mightly to increase
the cost of living Why sell tbe calves
for slaughter any more than to sell
week-old chicks or two-weeks-old pigs?

Acre Yields Are Goinf Up
The following interesting facts are
brought out iu the current issue of
Farm and Fireside by Judson C Welli-
ver Washington correspondent of that
publication:
"For twenty years past the tendency
in all the leading crops has been to-
ward steadily increasing yields per
acre Take corn in 1890 tbe country’s
average yield of corn per acre was
twenty-three and one-half bpshels per
acre It has fluctuated since then
with good and bad seasons uut the
tendency has been steadily upward and
in 1912 the average reached twenty-
seven bushels the highest it had known
to that time “Wheat shows a like ex-
perience In 1890 it was a fraction be-
low twelve bushels average per acre
in 1913 it got up to a fraction above
fourteen bushels The increase was
steady and persistent "Oats in 1890
averaged a trifle under twenty-five
bushels Iu 1912 they just topped a
thirty-bushel average per acre "Po-
tatoes weut just a bit over seventy
bushels per acre in 1892 Then they
climbed upward till they were ninety-
six bushels in 1912 "Barley increased
its average yield from about twenty-
one and one half to twenty-five and ope
half between 1890 and 1912 "Rye made
the greatest proportional gain going up
from eleven and three-fourths to sixteen
and one-half bushels in that same in-
terval “Buckwheat rose from thirteen
to over nineteen bushels in the same
period "Hay went up from 12 to 14
tons per acre”
Deafness Cannot Be Cured
by local applications as they cannot reach
the diseased portion of tbe ear There is only
one way to cure deafoese and that Is by coo
stitutiooai remedies Deafness is caused by
an inflamed coudltion of tbe muoous lining of
the Eustachian Tube- When this tube is in
flamed you bare a rumbling sound or imper
feet bearing and when it is entirely closed
Deafness is tbe result and unless tbe inflam
(nation can be taken out and this tube re
stored to its normal condition bearing wUl be
destroyed forever: nine oases out of ten are
caused by Catarrh which is nothing but an In
flamed condition of the muoous surfaces
