Mirket Report
Kansas City Stock Yards Nov 10
1913— Cattle receipts here were no
larger than the demand last week
but salesmen worked under the dis-
advantage of heavy runs at Chicago
and lower prices there Under these
conditions a steady market here
was tuned into a 10 to 25 lower
one on most of the killing cattle
Light native steers held up about
steady and range killers sold con-
siderably higher in some cases
stock cattle and feeders uneven
good range yearlings and twos
quarter higher common cattle
weak to a quarter lower Receipts
today are 15000 head a drop of
one third from recent Mondays and
the strong places in the market
bulge out prominently bulk of the
cattle selling 10 to 15 higher
Finished heavy steers are still bad
sellers as compared with the others
though stronger today and 'that
condition stopa some prospective
feeder buyers from making invest-
ments But some feeders sold close
to $000 today and stock steers
ranged from 1600 to $750 includ-
ing panhandle yearlings at $650 to
$735 and Colorado twoa up to
$725 Colorado killers weighing
1220 pounds brought $740 light
killers $6 80 to $700 range cows
$550 to $665 cancers $440 to
$520 heifers $700 Panhandle
stock calves ranged from $750 to
$835 Quarantine arrivals today
contained stock steers at $500 to
to $550 and beef steers up to $695
30 loads all told from below the
tick line
Hogs accumulated strength last
week arid are 10 to 15 higher to-
day Sbippess took an active part
today after a week or two of quiet
and paid $800 for top hogs 15
cents above best price paid hy
packers bulk of sales $760 to
$790 It is said the packers are
willing to accumulate product as
long qs ' hogs do not cost above
1800 and they probably also rea-
lize that they cannot get any great
distance with a bear program while
receipts run so little ahead of actual
fresh meat requirements
Sheep and lambs sold firm last
week on account of the small per-
centage of the reduced run being
fat enough for the killers The
market ia 10 to 25 higher today
receipts 6000 bead top lambs
$7-90 yearlings worth up to $625
wethers $525 ewes $485 Best
feeding lamba sell at $623 to $675
though common light lamba may
be had at $500 to $575 Country
demand for feeders - is good lamba
going as far as New York State
from here last week
