MONKEY GLANDS
Glad news for the tottering old
men who are trying to renew their
youth by the monkey gland route:
Dr Serge Voronoff the monkey
gland specialist of Paris enthusiastic-
ally reports that one of his patients
"haa certainly recovered from 25 to
30 years of lost youth"
This patient is Arthur Evelyn-
Liardet of London England Twenty
months ago when he was 74 Arthur
hobbled over Paris anl had Doe Vor-
ciioff sew some monkey glands in
! his abdomen This operation usually
tin performed slightly below the ap-
jpendix and just under the skin The
1 glands absorbed travel through the
system and rejuvenate lost powers
Arthur now 76 reports that he is
very active rising at 6 and taking a
cold bath every morning and walking
I riskly eight miles after breakfast
He says he’s full of pep all day And
grasp this: Arthur who formerly waa
almost entirely bald now is growing
a heavy new head of hair
What ia one man's meat may be
another man’s poison What rejuven
ates Arthur Evelyn-Liardet might
have opposite effects on another
So far only a very few old men
i have experisented with the monkey
gland operation Their cases are ex-
jccptional The average result (a gen-
eral rule will not be known until the
operation has been performed on
many 'thousands
1 Barring his new growth of hair
! Arthur’s evidences of a restoration of
j vigor might easily result from imag-
ination or self-hypnotism by his
faith in the power of gland
People a ho are'eonsidering taking
a chance on the monkey gland op-
I elation should keep this in mind and
weigh it cautiously:
FIRST — It takes several years for
glandular treatment to reveal its ef-
fects and as yet it is unknown wheth-
er these effects are more than briefly
temporary
only woman in Congress " when ask-
ed what she thought of her chances
for re-election today i
"I wont claim anything big but
1 believe I’ll go over by probably
2000— maybe 3000"
Miss Robertson who carried or
her campaign for re-election in the
second district since the adjournment
of Congress several weeks ago has
been a busy woman alternating be-
tween trips around her district and
“just hanging around" her cafeteria
here Speech-making has occupied
some of her time but little informal
talks with her constituents— some-
times across a table in her cafeteria
or on the streets and in public places
— has marked her campaign which
in 1920 was considered unique
“What do you think of the chances
of other women candidates in other
states?" the was asked
“Oh really I haven’t thought
muc’i about it— or rather have not
studied their issues" she rejoined
“women don’t cut much of a figure
in politics anyway they are rather
young in the game"
Economic issues she declared in-
terests her more for the present
than women’s problems However
she has talked with women voters
and has appealed to them in the
same manner she has solicited sup-
port from mep voters She declares
she haa never asked a woman to
vote for her just because she was a
woman
