Biggs T Htn Lecture Course lest Winter
Arrangements are being made for a
lecture course consisting of two lecture
two musical numbers and a chalk talk
This is a regular Chutanqna course and
represents more than the ordinary
talent of lecture courses These are
such nuiniiers as one would ordinarily
have to go to larger cities to attend A
few of our citizens will take tip the ex-
pense of this entertainment and hope
the public will appreciate their efforts
to procure for Bcggs first class literary
and mimical treats at onr borne town
by giving the movement their support
If there is a loss those who guarantee
the cost will have to foot the bill if
there is any money made it will go into
a fund to bring other high class enter-
tainments to our city
Inlercission for Hiskill Proposid
Judge C B Stuart of McAlester and
Orville T Smith of Muskogee counsel
for Governor Haskell in the Muskogee
town lot cases are in Washington ar-
ranging for a conference with the pres-
ident The plan is to hove the Okla-
homan congressional delegation call on
President Taft present him with facts
in the caso and request that he order
the iudictuient against Governor Has-
kell dismissed
Representative McGuire today ex
pressed a willingness to go to the White
House i £ the other republicans in the
delegation would join in the movement
Thus far however Representative
Morgan has refused to take jiart in the
proceedings giving as his reason that
he did not get the governor Into trouble
and did not propose to get him out of
it Mr Creager of the Muskogee dis-
trict is not In the city and therefore
cannot lie present if the proposed pro-
gram is carried out
But Tkomptoi it Intinimd
Gns Thompson of Beggs Ok thinks
that part of the state is long on grass
and short on cuttle Mr Thompson
went to that state from Aurora Mo a
few years ago and has been very suc-
cessful “The cattle this year seem to
lie in bunches and not scattered aliout
as they nssl to lie” said Mr Thomp-
son “The cattle heretofore have been
inure evenly distributed aliout through
the country At present there ure sjiots
where they seeui very scarce We had
rains just right to start grass early and
it is now very good With fewer cattle
and plenty of grass cattle are sure to
become fat early and lie good when
they are ready to market So far as
the crops are-concerned they look
good Corn Is coming along in a
hurry It Is a good even stand and
most all of it has lieen plowed over
once The territory around Beggs has
become somewhat noted as a cattle
feeding point In recent years that
territory has furnished a great many
good fed cattle on this market Of
course during the past winter and this
spring we furnished fewer than usual
owing to conditions that prevailed
through the wiuter aliout as they did
in other pnrts of the country But
farmers and cattlemen are making an
effort to raise a bumper corn crop and
if they do then they will be in it again
on feeding The corn certainly has a
fine start and is going to receive the
right attention The spring with ns is
js'rhaps a month ahead of other years
This gives the crops a fine start and
affords fanners an opportunity to get
a big start on their work Stock 'men
have lieen making money recently and
now that the crop condition are so
favorable they arc bound to give the
feeding projiosition more attention than
ever'— Drover Telegram

The following resolution was adopted
at a mass meeting of Okmulgee demo-
crat ’ f
We the democrats of Okmulgee
County in mass convention assembled
do hereby declare that the conditions
which now confront the American
eoplfl and which have through ex-
travagant government high tariffs
etc placed the cost of living so high a
to threaten the existence of the poor
that such conditions demand that every
Congressional District and the people
thereof put forth and bring out their
very liest men as candidates for the
office of Representative in the Congress
of the United States We feel that
this District of Oklahoma in which we
are situated should be represented by a
man more closely in touch with the
interests " and necessities of its people
and should no longer tolerate the in-
sipid misrepresentation of Danville 111
and the State of Rhode Island That
we have a man in the person of Samuel
L Johnson of Okmulgee who is truly
an Oklahoman and whom we desire to
present as a candidate for this noini-
n a tion who has spent the best years of
his life in the struggle of the settlers of
Territorial Oklahoma and Indian Terri-
tory and has shown his sympathy with
the people and the institutions of our
state by his long years of unselfish labor
amongst us and we do hereby solicit
and request that Samuel L Johnson do
allow his name to go before the people
of this district as a candidate for the
nomination as democratic candidate for
the office of Congressman We pledge
him our support and co-operation and
the support and co-operation of every
man who is a believer in the principle
that the office should seek the man
And if the said Samuel L Johnson shall
declare and announce himself as a can
didate for the nomination we pledge
the democratic voters of the district
that they can make no mistake in en
doming hiscandidacy and that if nomi-
nated he will make a campaign which
will place in Congress from this district
a man of whom the democrats of the
district may well feel proad — Daily
