How Are
Your Manners?
By Isabelle Duvall
ediforal page each week
The 193sis of etiquette is a
good attitude toward people
yourself and life It is effective
only when it is genuine Back
of all good manners must be a
sincere desire to be friendly
kind and tactful: nules for eti-
quette are important and we
have made them for evely phase !
of living but they vill not help !
us to be courteous if we do
not like people in general Good
manners are ways of speaking
and acting that make us corn-
foi table within ourselves These
rules are made by men and wo-
men who recognize and appre-
ciate the value of agreeable hu-
man relationships They help to
make life pleasant and protect
society in general After using
good manners a few tones they
become aithonatic
Courtesy is an asset to a win-
ning personality: by this I mean
to be able to make people like
you Si) much that they want to
do the things that you suggest
To accomplish this you Will
need to have a keen imagina-
tion and to be able to see the
other persons point of view
You Nvill need to so word your
suggestions that he thinks they
are his OWn ideas originally
Your knowledge of etiquette
will be quite necessary to ac-
complish this end but you must
use good judgement and discre-
lion as the rules cannot always
be followed to the letter
