TRAPPS ARREST
The arrest of Lieut Gov Trapp
by Seminole County officers sort
of throwed a wrench in the ma-
chinery Now woldn't it be sad
if a Creek County Grand Jury be
called and the same Lieut Gov
was indicted for manipulating the
Million Dollar Road Bond Issue
Of course in Creek county he
wouldn't be by himself others
seemingly had a hand in the dis-
tribution of the Million Dollars
By the way wliere's the roads
that were to be built and never
a furrow touched
SHERIFF ARRESTS ASSAILANT
Sheriff Livingston has caused
the arrest of one Cooper who
persisted in punching the stuff-
ing out of the High Sheriff in

has his assailant in the county

the Kangaroo Court of that es-

OILTON OKLAHOMA THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 7 1922
MANY TOWNSHIP I REORGANIZED 01111)N BALL
FAIRS TO ItE IIELDI TEAM BEAT 'HIE TIDALs
I'LtYcd Them Last Sunday at
bruniright and Beat Them By
the Score of 10 to 9
Oi Iton ti11 has a ball team and
Ilicv started out by Villning their
iihst game at Drumright last Sun-
Jay ch it they met the celebrat-
i Tidal Oil team of this city
The game was a hard fought one
all the xvtly through and it look-
"11 as if the locals were going
to suffer defeat up until the nin-
th inning when they got busy
with their sticks and chased in
five runs in thair half of the
ninth the score beng 5 to 9 in
favcr of the Tidals But with the
five runs made in this inning and
not Ictling the Tidals score in
their half the boys came home
wth the big end of thte score to
thei) credit It has not been
:earned whether there will be a
garno here next Su inlay or not
but tho boys seem to be going
i-ood now and they have several
ocw players in their line up who
Itae ttrengthened the team a
great deal Lloyd Georgd who
has been a consistent fighting
member of the Oilton team for
the past three years is now man-
aging the team and the fans of
Oilton should give the boys their
ttupport by attending the game
tts it takes money to successfully
run a ball team
OUlt BANKS
There was a little flurry in
hanking circles last week which
or a time looked serious but end-
as quick as it started It
was eaused by a fool rumor from
Ltt fliployee in the Oil Fields Ile
Jread the report that he could
rotet his money out of the First
Bank that the bank was
1reke Early next morning quite
b:nich of small depositors came
tlid drew their inoney out Of
course there was no truth in the
report and the men who really
money in this institution
V Ore not in the bit alarmed An-
ithtr rumor xva that a firm which
ocently failed in Oilton owed the
banks a :4um amounting to $40-
000000 This is also untrue
! the firm owed not a dollar to
either ank and did not Owe a
lflh to an Oilton citizen The
debts of the firm were with whole-
sale clothing and shoe houses
No town in the State has better
ianks than °Mon They have
had a hard time money is scarce
collectons are slow and they
have been unable to make any
money for themselves but as far
their solvency is concerned
both banks could pay out dollar
for dollar if given notice of the
withdrawel of the money by the
(1pwzitors No bank could pay
out should a run be started on
onfounded rumor and every-
body demanded their money at
once Depositors should study
the banks quarterly reports and
learn for themselves their con
dition and not pay any attention
to rumors only to report them
to the proper officials The Gov-
ernor has offered a reward of
c4L50000 for the arrest of anyone
starting a rumor which resulted
in the closing of any bank in the
tate People must be careful
14 a remark vhich they might
think frivial would grow into a
mountain and cause much loss to
the community The Oilton banks

ROAD PLANS
CREEK COUNTY is lagging be
hind in the development of a
good road system While the
county has spent a considerable
sum of money building highways
the character of the roads is such
that they are unsatisfactory and
hardly a year will roll around
until the gap between the Tulsa
county line and the Lincoln coun-
ty line Will be the one unfinished
link of W hat now is certain to
be a hard surface highway be-
tween tne lissouri line anil the
state capital
Tulsa county's program is neir-
ing completion and they have a
road system that is unexceltal
Lincoln county is preparing for
a good road campaign An elec-
tion will soon be called to vote
bonds for that purpose
Oklahoma county has a road
system that will link up with the
Lincoln county :highway
Counties in the Oast are mak-
ing plans to complete their roads
with hard surface so that the
system will tie up to the great
highway system being built in
Missouri
All of these road projects are
being built by federal aid The
national government furnishes a
Dart of the money and the county
the balance But the national
gov21nment doesn't put in a nennY
of the funds unless the contracts
are made by the state and the
federal government given super-
vision of the construction
Creek county with a popula-
tion of 70000 and a wealth of a
hundred million dollars a nro-
frressive citizenship can ill afford
to stand back and not do its share
towards the building of a com-
plete hard-surface system of
roads It is good constructive
comunity development will en-
hance the value of farm lands
make for safety and qukk travel
and affords an outlet for the traf-
fic of a nation into the great
sout hwest
Once the road betwi?en the
Missouri line and the state cap-
ital is completed ocean-to-ocean
travel which runs into thousands
annually would be routed this
w a V
The progressive citizens of the
county can well afford to give
the suggestion thought It Nvill
then be up to the progressive citi-
zen to plan and execute the pro
gram
The year 1023 should see this
road system under construction
