Elt-Covernor Seeks to Give Word
of Cheer to Creek County
Voters
-
To the Voters of Creek County:
The primaries are over and I
wish to thank you for your sup-
port 1 was not able to meet all
of you and talk with you person-
ally before the primary election
and I may not be able to see you
all before the November election
but I want you to know that my
thoughts and sympathies are with
you in your daily tasks and if I
can contribute a word of good
cheer to make life's burdens a
little lighter it will add to my joy
of living
Thene is much in life and in
contact with our fellows to stren-
gthen character and inspire noble
living The true American citi-
zen is an optimist we should
strive to see things as they are
and not allow ourselves to be mis-
led The common welfare is always
advanced by the high aims and
purposes of Our people We can-
not afford to believe a falsehood
nor close our eyes to wrong doing
but the unrestrained manner in
which some people hurl accusa
tIons in polities often detracts
from a realy serious charge and
allows a grafter to get by The
truth is usually easily discovered
if you take the trouble to make a
little inqury The man who be-
lieves everything he hears is
' about as dangerous a citi7en as
the rnan who does not care The
political liar and the political
grafter belong in the same class
- the two go together
Ihave met a number of people
- who say "I have quit having any-
: thng to do with politics I don't
vote am disgusted with the
whole business" Are you disgust-
ed with the acts of good men or
the acts of bad men? Why of bad
men of course Then you can
readily see that you are deserting
the good poeple who need your
help to preserve good govern-
merit I hear you say we cara
tell who the good people are but
yes you can- You can easily find
out who they are You may some
times be deceived but you can us-
ually tell if you take the trouble
to investigate We should use the
same practical common sense in
political matters that we use in
other every day affairs of life If
a man' came to you to sell a horse
