With thorns, they made my Lord a Crown, and
I the chief of sinners am.
In Judas, there my Lord betrayed, as there my
Savior, Knelt and Prayed.
The Kiss of death, upon His brow, was the
argument, as to how - -
The cross He’d bear, the world to save, and
then they laid Him in the grave.

While the Savior Prayed, I went to sleep, I Peter,
Could not my Vigil Keep,
Though I had vowed to never forsake, for one
hour, Could not stay awake.
I stood afar and cringed with fear, afraid of
the crowd, I did not go near.
The nails were driven in His hands, the
spear into His side,
He cried aloud, “Father forgive,” and saying thus. He
died.

I was a disciple, but I feared the Jews. I
Joseph, was told the sad news.
Asked permission of Pilate, to prepare His grave
and buried Him in the garden, my sepulcher gave.
Loved ones came to anoint on the third day, the
sepulcher was empty, the stone rolled away.
"It is finished," on the cross, Our master said,
He arose to life eternal, Our Precious
Savior is not dead.

Water safety
is emphasized
The Labor Day weekend
traditionally brings the
season’s second or third
largest surge of visitors to
area lakes and increased
attendance at Corps of
Engineers projects creates
a special need for water
safety awareness, ac-
cording to William M.
Andrews, safety engineer
for the Tulsa District, Corps
of Engineers.
Twenty-five drowning and
boating fatalities have
occurred at Tulsa District
lakes since the first of the
Obituary
BETTY GRIGGS
year, down from 41 over the
same period last year,
Andrews said. But he also
stressed that last year the
district achieved an un-
wanted record high with 55
lake fatalities.
The safety engineer
pointed out that few of the
people who have drowned at
Corps lakes were wearing
personal flotation devises.
He added that most lake
fatalities each year result
from boating and swimming
accidents.
