The Rev. Dr. Dale White, of
the Methodist Temperance Divi-
sion, cites similar reasons for his
conviction that it is “immoral to
smoke" in the light of the surge-
on general’s report.
“Christians are obligated to be
good stewards of the life God has
given them,” he says. “Equally
important is my influence on oth-
ers, my responsibility to set a
right example for my brother."
A disciples of Christ leader, the
Rev. Barto Hunter, also feels
that “from the Christian perspec-
tive the answer is clear."
“One must refrain from ciga-
rette smoking” he said in a state-
ment for UPI. "Cigarette smoking
is dangerous to human life, one’s
own or that of the person whom
one influences by example. Life
is a gift of God, a sacred stewar 1
ship to be treasured and used in
the doing of his will. We are not
at liberty to gamble with our
lives merely for the sake of per-
sonal satisfactions.”

Sunday!
Don’t Send Your
Children To Church
TAKE THEM!
When the gavel falls and court sentence has been pronounced
we have started late in reforming the juv enile delinquent. That is
not to say, however, that we abandon all hope and cease to try.
But the hygienic maxim, “an ounce of prevention is worth a
pound of cure." applies equally well to all of our children.
There is, of course, no substitutefor proper parental guidance.
Juvenile delinquents, as a rule, do not come from families where
the parents play with, teach and devote time to their children.
A church, where the whole family attends services and func-
tions regularly, is the greatest auxiliary parents have in child
guidance. For the training of the mind and heart in things not
materialistic there is no institution that can replace the church.
It can he a source of profound joy for the whole family—let’s see
you and your children in church this Sunday, and every Sunday
thereafter.
