'Each step a memory'
By AMANDA KENNEDY
_ __PHS Senior_______________________
As our senior year comes to a close, many of us look back, wondering what happened to all the
time we seemed to have.
We've seen all the seniors go before us, and as we all knew, it is now our turn to do the same.
This year has been filled with winning football games, semi-finals in basketball, state players
in wrestling and band, and regional competitions in cheerleading.
But even with all the sports and academic events, we still remember the little things, like tests
in English and studying for math, and talking to our friends, as well as going to plays acted by
drama and shoe-polishing cars at homecoming.
We pave the way for all those vounger than us, and follow in the footsteps of those that are
older. With each step is a memory—of high school, middle school, and elementary—that will
not be forgotten.
We'll remember the dances, the homecomings, the contests, the wins and the losses.
Each of our teachers have been engraved in our minds as well as our friends, and each has
touched us and set the wheel in motion for how our lives are going to be lived. We will go on to
become doctors, scientists, lawyers, artists and writers, but we shall always have the memories
of those who helped us along the way.
When the time comes to cross that stage at graduation, and we each take our diploma, looking
toward the crowd and also toward the future, we'll be blinking back tears of sadness for the
things that have come to an end, but also tears of joy for knowing what greatness so many of us
will give the world in years to come.
I will really miss Perry High School and all its memories, but 1, along with all the others, am
prepared to go and make new memories that 1 can one day bring back and share.
Good luck to all of you in the future...and may you each find success and happiness in R % .1 , .. € , 121, c ..... 1 " D 1 110.106

Graduation Day
By Amanda Kennedy
2003 Senior
The time has come to cross the stage,
Your parents weeping, friends are cheering.
You’ve finally reached that time of age;
No turning back, your time is nearing.
Just one more chapter, one more page
in the hardback book your life is writing;
A few more steps to pass that stage
and spread your wings to start you flying.
You hear the cheer, your name is said.
Your stomach tightens with silent dread.
But still you walk across that stage;
The time has come, you are of age.
A single tear slips down your face.
You smile as you take your place.
