Cartoon character vitamins are ‘shocking’ our children
Vitamin tablets shaped as car-
toon characters are endangering
children’s lives, says the Health In-
surance Association of America.
Jack Lipscomb, supervisor of the
Regional Poison Control Center
for Northeastern Illinois, told the
Association that these tablets have
caused numerous overdoses among
children.
The youngsters, he said, have
been taking 10, 20or 30tablets with
cartoon and cinema personalities on
them at one sitting.
If those vitamins contain iron, he
advised, serious complications
leading to shock can result.
If a parent discovers that the
child has been on one of these vita-
min binges, Lipscomb suggests
immediately calling the doctor or
the nearest poison control center
