THE CHURCHES OF THE GARBER AREA WELCOME YOU
Changes are being made in the mem-
bership of the Garber Ministerial Alliance.
The above picture of the Alliance was taken
last November. Since that time three of the
ministers have preached farewell sermons in
Garber. These were Rev. Eldon Moelling,
Methodist Church; Rev. F. R. French, Assem-
bly of God, and Rev. R. J. Blankenship, Church
of the Nazarene.
Pictured above in the front row, from
left to right are Rev. Elmer Johnson, Antelope
Valley Church of the Brethren; Rev. Joseph
Wong, Lutheran Church; Rev. C. E. VanScoy,
Pentecostal Church of God; Rev. C. K. Belles,
Baptist Church. In the back row are Rev. El-
don Moelling, Methodist Church (now at Ton-
kawa); Rev. Don Macy, Christian Church;
Rev. R. J. Blankenship, Nazarene, and Rev.
F. R. French, who resigned as pastor of the
Assembly of God. New pastors have not been
secured for the Church of the Nazarene and
the Assembly of God.
Sermonette
LACK OF FAITH
by Rev. F. R. French, As sembly of God Church
Unbelief can hinder God’s answering our
petitions. James says, “But let him ask in
faith, nothing wavering. For he that waver-
eth is like a wave of the sea driven by the
wind and tossed.” (James 1:6). The instability
of a billow, changing from moment to mo-
ment, is an apt symbol of a mind that can-
not fix itself upon the fact of believing prayer.
"For let not that man think that he shall
receive anything of the Lord.” (James 1:7).
Doubting or unbelief immediately shuts
God’s ear. Man may doubt whether God hears
his prayers or God's ability to answer the
petition. By doing so, he measures God’s ability
by his limited knowledge, forgetting that God
is able to do exceeding abundantly, above all
that we ask or think, according to the power
that worketh in us. (Ephesians 3:20).
Israel asked, “Is God able to prepare a
table in the wilderness? The answer is “Yes”.
We cannot expect anything from God if
we doubt Him. “He that cometh to God must
believe that he is, and that He is a rewarder
of them that diligently seek Him.” (James 5:
16).
Abraham believed God. "He staggered not
at the promise of God through unbelief; but
was strong in faith, giving glory to God. (Rom-
ans 5:20». “The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16).
Let us cast away everything that would
hinder our prayer to God. Then we can ex-
pect heaven's richest blessings upon us.
