The terrific storm with a wind
of almost cyclone velocity Which
hit northeastern Oklahoma Sun-
day night did little damage in
Sand Springs Check up failed to
reveal anyone wile nad suffered
materially from Its effects
The storm hit Sand Springs a
little after 9 'o'clock and raged
for more than an hour although

reports were that it was not as
terrific here as it was in Tulsa
Sand Springs evidently being with
in the edge only
The Sand Springs highway dur
ing the storm and for awhile after
was flooded with water several'
inches deep from the base of the
hill Just before entering Tulsa
proper to the city limits of Sane
Springs Numbers of cars were
stalled during the course of the
storm in efforts to navigate this
vertible river
several large signs to the side
of the highway suffered from the
wind as did also some of the
small shacks which line the high
way
Communication to and from the
city was maintained all during the
wind and electric storm of the
evening Telephone service oper-
ated with no break and Sand
Springs Railway interurban cars
operated all evening and upon
mehedule It was possible at any
time to go from this city to Tulsa
over the flooded highway by ex
ercising care not to wet the igni-
tion No auto accidents or accidents
of any other nature were reported
In Sand Springs or surrounding
territory resulting front the storm

reported this week Tuesday eve
ning the Christian church enter-
tained with a reeeption for all the
new teachers An entertaining
program was presented and de-
lightful refreshments were served
The reception was held in the
chat parlors
Friday evening of last meek the
'Methodist church parlors were
the scene of another reception
honoring the teachers of the city
school system A largo number
were present and after an Inter
