Claremore's new street sweeper
arrived just in time to keep the

will be a cheap price to pay for
such a nice addition to the city

CASTEL GANDOLFA Italy (UPI) — Pope Pius XII suffer-

close for the 82-year-old head of the Roman Catholic Church
Doctors abandoned hope for the Pope's survival after a ce-

afternoon by "a grave cardio - pulmonary collapse"
In New York physicians interpreted the phase "cardio-pulmonary
collapse" to mean either that the right side of the
Pope's heart had collapsed or
that the collapse occurred in
the artery leading from the Pope Pius May

At 5:35 pm (11:35 am ci:11)

49 Farmers Apply
For Land Reserve
October 10 is the final date for
farmers to sign an application for
1959 under the conservation reserve
phase of the soil bank program
according to Finis R Nelson man-
ager of the local ASC office
Applications have been received
to date from 49 Rogers county far-
mers to put 3664 acres of land in
this program Widespread interest
in the program indicates that part-
icipation by farmers in Oklahoma
may be much greater than in pre-
vious years Nelson stated As a
result it could be that applications
will exceed funds available for pro-
gram payments
Under Conservation Reserve re-
gulations applications for contracts
have to be accepted in accordance
with a definite priority plan-on the
basis of the best offer p e r acre
Therefore farmres who offer to ac-
cept contracts at a rgte less than
the maximum set for their farms
will Increase the possibility of their
applications being accepted
The required order of priority in
which conservation reserve con-
tracts will be awarded is as fol-
lows: I Farmers who had all of their
cropland in the acreage reserve
and the conservation reserve toge-
ther in I958-are now offering to
put the acreage which was in the
Acreage Reserve into the conser-
vation reserve
2 Other applicants offering land
at the lowest rate when compared
on a percentage basis with the ap-
plicable maximum rate
3 Applicants offering land at the
lowest applicable maximum rate
pere acre In ease there are ap-
plications at the same percentage
of the maximum applicable rate
priority will be given to them in the
following order: (a) Applications
with the lower maximum payment
rate per acre (b) Applications of-
fering all eligible land in the farm
(c) Applications offering land for
the longest period
If applicantions of equal priority
under the above factors remain for
consideration the final priority will
be determined by public drawing
