SEIIIOR CITIZEIPS
RESPOUSIBILITY
There is a populatiokof 144600
in Oklahoma above the age of 65 ac-
cording to the 1944 census Approxi-
mately oneb-half of these senior citi-
tens are now benefitting by old age
pensions and features of the "New
Deal" program as advocated and put
into effect by men such as Senator
Elmer Thomas and President Roose-
velt For these citizens who pio-
neered and developed this nation the
"Old Deal" provided only the -poorhouse
'
Not only for their sakes but for
their sons and grandsons at war
should these old folks wage a daily
campaign through November 7 to as-
sure the People's Peace in America
by the power of voting and getting
others to vote Think this over!
Is YOUR PATRIOTISM 4F?
The BALLOT is a 'privilege and
power in your bands but you can't
vote unless you are registered It is
YOUR patriotic duty to see that
friends and members of your family
register and vote Every such vote
will make up for a vote lost by a
serviceman or woman disfranchised
became of the crippling Dewey-Soldier
Vote Law -
Democracy is safe only so long as
the majority takes part in the gov-
ernment A large vote means political
and national safety A small -vote
will make up for a lost vote by a
opens the way to minority rule and
dictatorship – -
It is estimated that 30000000
American citizens in the past have
ignored their civic duty to vote in a
national election every four years
This appalling fact must seem in-
credible to oppressed peoples of Eu-
rope—and even to non-Nazi Germans -
themselves—who by npw realize how
much a vote freely and intelligent-
ly exercised means to their freedom
well-being and happiness
To prove that your patriotism is
NOT 4F get busy now in your com-
munity Don't leave the job to some-
one else! Work all day November 7
our V-Day Offer transportation to
the polls if possible
Have You Registered?
Registration Closes Oct 21
You do not have to be at home on
Election Day to vote if you get an
absentee ballot before November 1
from your county election' board
If you have moved from one
precinct to another within the
same county you may change your
registration certificate up to and
including November 7
But YOU must be registered if
you want to vote!

He doesn't stand for the Little Man
He stands for the Little Mind

WE ARE OLD
- By COVINGTON HALL
Death's terrors lose their strength
When we grow old -1
We count not the road's long length
When we are old
Though not so clear comes the re-
frain Of the voices o'er the plain
Not so sharply cuts the pain
When we are old
The tears fall not so hot
Whenwe grow old
The hurts more soon forgot
When we are old
Though not so mad the happiness
And joys thrill us less and less
Not so gearing the distress
When we are old:
The way is not so straight
When we grow old
Destiny does not on us wait
When we are old
Hope is not the blazing gerh
That once glowed in fate's dadem
Yet we no more the gods condemn
When NV e are old
Our friends take precedence of kirtgs
When we grow old
We seek the shade of Love's wide
wings 0
When we are old
Our hearts by hate are less defiled
Our judgments juster and more mild
We once again'become a child
When we are old

BENEFITS FOR OLD FOLKS
Our GWA Proposal is Popular
Letters continue to reach us front
leading Democrats of the State Sen
ate and from the Democratic candi-
dates for the Senate and House
pledging themselves to give those on
old age assistance real consideration
this winter They favor the GWA
plan to provide as much as $15000 a
year sick benefits and $10000 burial
benefits for those on Old Age Assist
ance Only four or five Republicans '
have endorsed the plan!
A Republican Frowns
- The Republican candidate for the
legislature in Stevens county wrote
us a nasty letter and accused us of
being a "dangerous force" It Is not
surprisinv that his letter was mailed
in an envelope with Earl Halliburton's
return address Halliburton is a Re
publican millionaire who during the
depression was quoted as saying that
"no one could ever work for the Hal
liburton company who had worked on
WPA NYA CCC or other New Deal
' agencies"
Could we expect a different view
from one of his stooges who looks
with disfavor ran our tight to help
those in need? -
State Senator Mead Norton (Pot
tawatomie and Lincoln counties) ad
vised GWA state headquarters that
our proposed plan to provide MO a
year sick benefits and $100 for burial
benefits as additional compensation
to persons appearing on the old age
assistance rolls of Oklahoma was
ft "proper and fitting legislation for the
old people of our state and I will
heartily support suPh to accomplish
the program"
State Senator Raymond Gary
(Marshall and Love counties) wrote:
"I will be glad to support the pro
gram I believe it is sound and well
within our ability to provide"
State Senator Frank Mahan
(Osage and Washington counties)'
said "I will support the program
100 I think you are doing a fine
piece of work and if there is any way:
1 can help out let me know"
Creekmore 1Vallace Democratic
nominee for representative from Ok
lahoma county stated "I am in favor
of the plan and will be glad to sport
sor any measure having for its pur-
pose the securing of these additional
benefits to the aged and 'needy of
this state:" -
Ben Huey (Cleveland county)

For Republicans?

12 Years of Talk Versus 12 Years of
Action
We have had the experience of
twelve long years of Republican talk
(3 terms of Harding Coolidge and
Hoover) We have also ha:d the ex
perience of twelve years of Demo
cratic action (3 terms under a peer
less leader and the people's friend
Roosevelt)
Shall we give the Republicans a
FOURTH TERM with talkative little
Tommy Dewey—or shall we vote for
a FOURTH TERM of action with
