The City of Altus and its
power supplier, the Oklahoma
Municipal Power Authority
(OMPA), have presented a
check for $54,543 to Bar-S
Foods Company for recent
energy efficiency improve-
ments at the business.
The rebates were presented
as part of the Demand and
Energy Efficiency Program
(DEEP), administered by
OMPA. This is the second-
largest rebate check awarded
in the six-year history of the
DEEP program.
Lighting fixtures through-
out the Bar-S Foods location
at 500 S. Bar S. Blvd, in
Altus are being upgraded to
high-efficiency LED lighting;
most of the new fixtures have
been installed. To date, the
enhancements are expected
to reduce the facility’s energy
demand by 272.72 kilowatts.

chapter was the third place overall
winner of the state Greenhand Quiz
Career Development event.
Ramirez was one of 50 high school
freshman FFA members from across
Oklahoma to qualify for the state
finals held on the campus of Okla-
homa State University October 20.
To qualify for the state finals, FFA
members must score high on a 50
question written exam and survive a
100 question oral elimination round.
Questions are selected from the Offi-
