Inc., which is running the ser-

CSTV XXL, the entire package
of more than 100 schools for
$14.95 a month or $99.95 a year.
“Fans of large schools no
longer have to wait for that sin-
gle game on broadcast or cable,"
said Brian Bedol, chief execu-
tive of CSTV. “For millions of
fans of smaller schools, they
will have access to live sports
for the first time no matter
where they live.”
CSTV joins companies like
SportsCast Network LLC and
Penn Atlantic LLC in helping
colleges and universities bring
games to the Internet. Many
schools and some entire confer-
ences are already showing foot-
ball and other sports on their
Web sites, and the CSTV offer-
ing expands the number of par-
ticipants and games available
online.
Schools initially participating
range from the Air Force to
Xavier, and from the University
of Washington to the University
of Miami. Most are Division 1
schools.

Vernon attempted an onside kick.
Bailey picked off the kick and

also have separate conference
channels for those two, along
with Big East, Big West, Pacific

CSTV and the schools will
generally share revenues from

The schools often produce the

heavy investment by either the
schools or CSTV.

AHS freshmen shuts out Vernon

Every thing was going well for the
Altus High School junior varsity foot-
ball team in their season opener with
Vernon, Texas, here Thursday night.
The Bulldogs shot out to a 20-0 lead
and appeared to have the game under
control.
But the Altus offense began to sput-
ter, the turnover bug hit and the
Bulldogs had to hang on for dear life
to deteat the Lions 20-19 .
AHS Quarterback Grant Mason got
off to a quick start completing his first
seven passes, three for touchdowns.
His first score was to wide receiver
Jeremy Bailey on a corner route that
covered 14 yards.
The second score came on a three
yard pass to Jentry McLaughlin.
The third touchdown pass was to
Bailey and it was the longest play of
the night. It was on a flare pass to the
flat. Bailey gathered in the pass at the
line of scrimmage, avoided one would
be tackler and out raced the Vernon
defenders for a 62-scoring play.
I hat gave the Bulldogs a 20-0 lead
9 33 left in the second quarter, but the
complexion of the game changed
quickly.
On Altus' next possession Mason
dropped back to pass. He was pres-
sured and hit just as he threw. The pass
was picked off by Vernon’s Junior
Negrete who returned it 20 yards for a
touchdown. It was the first of five
turnovers for the Bulldogs.

Tulsa brought back the core of a
squad that won Conference USA last
season to give the school its first con-
ference title in 20 years. The main loss
was Garrett Mills, who set an NCAA
record for the most receptions by a
tight end last season before being draft-
ed by the New England Patriots.
Tulsa returned 10 starters on defense
and the most experienced offensive line
in the country — with four players
totaling 95 career starts. That front line
gave Smith plenty of time to scan the
field, and the only time he got hit was
when he took off on designed runs and
scrambles.
Smith made up for the loss of Mills
by connecting with II different
receivers. His final pass was a 4-yard
TD throw to Nick Henderson on the
first drive of the third quarter. He fin-
ished 16-for-20 with no interceptions.
Backup David Johnson connected
with Jake Collums on a 59-yard touch-
down pass and finished with 80 yards
on 3-for-7 passing.
Southall was ll-for-23 for 79 yards
and one interception for the
Lumberjacks.
Tulsa had opened the last four years
by losing to Oklahoma, Kansas and
twice to Minnesota.
