Speaker for DE
Mr. Phil Carson, an officer at
the National Bank of Commerce,
was the guest speaker for the
Distributive Education classes
last week.
Mr. Carson was invited to
speak to the students on the
subject of checks. He pointed out
the proper use of checks, how to
endorse them correctly, and the
various ways of cashing and
depositing them.
The three points that the DE
students were most concerned
about were the date, the
signature, and the amount.
Creative writing deals with the
student expressing his or her
feelings through writing. The
creative writing class has begun
the year by writing descriptive
paragraphs and sentences.

Snyder Hands
32-0 Defeat
by David Dameron
The Altus Dawgs were dealt a
32-0 defeat at the hands of the
Snyder Cyclones last Thursday
night at Cyclone Field in Snyder.
The strong Snyder offense
whirl-winded the courageous
I Dawg defense of Kirk Felix, Roy
■ Roma, Billy Waters, Paul
I Shelly, Jessie Foley, Edward
■ Rogers and Eddie Everett by
scoring three times in the first
- half and twice more in the
j second.
The spirited Dawg offense, led
by quarterback Steve Mims and
running backs Joe Weaver, Billy
Waters and Joe Shelly, were
unable to move the ball on the
ground so the Dawgs took to the
airways with Mims finding ends
Everett and Gregg open for
gains of 35 and 20 yards bringing
the ball to rest on the Cyclone 3
yard line.
Mims, aided by the fine
blocking of Kent Walker, Bob
Moore, Stewart Mayfield, Leo
Kline, and Darryl Mink, dropped
back and found end Gregg open
in the end zone only to have the
play called back because of
holding. The final score was
Snyder 32 Altus 0.
In the morning at 10 a.m. the
Dawgs seek revenge for this loss
when they host Hobart at
Hightower Memorial Stadium.
Project Begins
Mr. Roy Risner’s psychology
classes are already preparing
for their semester term project.
They have the remainder of the
first six weeks to decide upon a
suitable experiment and the last
two six-week periods to conduct
it.
The choice of projects is left
entirely up to each individual
student with two man teams
permissible but not necessarily
encouraged. Mr. Risner feels
that working together may bring
unequal division of efforts,
which would allow some to coast
along on his partner’s grade.
Three experiments have so far
been suggested. One involves the
training of a mouse by using a
maze, which the animal would
be forced to solve in order to
reach the food. A second
proposed project is to discover
which types of people will pick
up a hitchhiker and why.
Because psychology is only a
half-unit course, these projects
will be due at the end of the first
semester.

BIMBO HERRON has
been selected "Player of
the Week" by Head Coach
Jim Cromartie. "His
effort in Friday night's
ballgame with Lawton
was as fine an individual
effort as I have seen.
Offensively and defen-
sively he played his best
game ever as a Bulldog,"
said Coach Cromartie.
The Collar extends Bimbo
congratulations for this
honor.
