1928 American Legion State
COnvention to Clinton
CLINTON July 22—Clinton will
endeavor to bring the 1928 state con-
vention of the American Legion here
and an active campaign ' has been
started by the Luther Hobbs post
No 41 and the local chamber of com-
merce to have Clinton chosen as the
1928 meeting place when the state
convention meets August 8 and 9 at
Guthtlie
Telegrams have been sent to le-
' gion posts in the state soliciting sup-
port for this city for the convention
next year These will be followed
by letters from the local legion post
and the chamber of commerce and sent
to every American Legion Post in the
state The letter will set out in detail
why the 1928 convention should be
held in this city
I A large delegation of local business
men and legionnaires will go to Guth
rig and Work to have this city chosen
as the 1928 meeting pace American
ILegion state conventions have been
held on the eastern side of the state
for several years

I MUSKOGEE Julyy 22—The three
'men injured in the wreck of a Katy
freight tran near Worth Wednesday
in which two were killed were re-
ported resting comfortably in the Bap-
tist hospital here where they were
brought for treatment
The men are Sam Harris Manning
Jack Snyder Pershing and Henry WI!
Hams McAlester
Snyder's injuries a wrenched back
and cuts' on the head were said to
be' the most serious although he is
expected to recover Harris and Wil-
liams suffered minor bruises
The bodies of Roy Martin Baxter
Springs Kan and A B Rhinehart
Dundee Texas killed in the wreck
are held at Eufaula pending an in-
vestigation All five men are believed
to have been riding in ono of the
empty box cars —

ing Modern Woodmen were unable to

fit Association nine 'at League Park
and the latter team won with the long
end of a 6 to 2 score
Featured with two double plays one
for each side the game was princi-
pally a pitchers battla with O'Kelley
staging the hurlers battle for the
Woodmen and Garne for the Bene-
