gradually getting better at Burnett

nights The Sunday night service
was exceptionally good and the
house was full
Wednesday night service is doing
fine Bro Paul Herd preached a
wonderful message
Most people from the church had
dinner in the home of Mr and Mrs
Clarance Herd Sunday Mrs Herd
had a wonderful dinner and prayer
service in their home in the after-
noon was fine
Bro York was uable to attend
the service at Mr and Mrs Herds
but Sister Herd had him a plate

As they stepped out a con-
vertible squealed to a stop be-
side the limousine that had
brought Johnny and Sam out to
Manhasset
A girl sprang out and came
running toward the door "Jim"

"Taking it pretty badly Her-
tha" Sutton replied
"I would have come sooner
but then you know " She
stopped and looked sharply at

Mrs Lem Case was sick Sunday
and we missed her and Mr Case

coat" said Sam
Sutton shrugged "What's a

Johnny explained "The bill was
so small it slipped her mind"
"Well" said James Sutton
"that's interesting But how do
you know all this about Miss
Cummings?"
"That" said Johnny "is how
we got into this We skip-traced
her and collected the dough"
"I'm interested in skip trac-
ers" Sutton said "Just how did
you do it?"
"There are tricks to all trades"
Johnny gave Sutton a quick side-
ward glance "I imagine the gro-
cery business has its tricks too"

Federal reservoirs under juris-
diction of Tulsa District Corps of
Engineers Tulsa Oklahoma this
week showed little change in el-
evations from the precending week
so reports Colonel Stanley G Reiff
District Engineer' All projects with
the exception of Wister Reservioir
are at varying minus degrees due
to lack of rainfall The Wister pro-
ject is its normal level of 4716
feet above sea level The Fort
Gibson Hulah Great Salt Plains
and Heyburn projects are all with-
in three feet of their normal elevations
Recreational activity hit a new
season low last week as dry cold
and biting winds kept visitors from
the projects There were a few
who braved the elements and found
fishing generally poor except at

ing the Heyburn Dam and Reser-
voir for the week ending January
23 1955 Of this number there
were 1340 persons on the reserva-
tion over the weekend Fishing is
fair at Heyburn Reservoir Some
bass catches are being made on
the upper arms of the reservoir
in and around clear water A few

Texoma fishing was mainly crap-
pie fishing Baited beds paid off
with some prodigious hauls The
weekend replvt at Flowing Wells
saw 1809 crappie 'taken mostly
from the barge

FORT SUPPLY
At the Fort Supply Reservoir lo-
cated in northwest Oklahoma an
estimated 1239 visitors were tallied-by
traffic counters during the

reation is taking a siesta at this
project and sight-seers still make
up the majority of attendance Very
little boating was done during this
period due to the inclement wea-
ther -

Cold weather kept fishermen
away from the Tenkiller Ferry Res-
ervoir in eastern Oklahoma and
very few visitors with practically
no fishing reported The lake level
continues to rise and now stands
at clevation 60117 a total rise of
82 feet above the previous low
Bass and crappie fishing is slow
I and channel cat and bream fishing
I was not reported
WISTER
Fishing was fair to good at the
Wister projett during the past
week despite high winds for sev-
eral days Some nice catcheS of
crappie have come from below the
dam as well as from the hike

a decrease in attendance with 2750
persons for the week ending 23
January 1055 Although several of
the more rugged individuals brav-
ed the cold to try their luck at
fishing there were no reports of
any successful catches Several
boats were-noted on the lake dur-
ing the week and on the weekend
Most of them were used in re-
moving duck blinds The waters of
the lake are clear and the pool
elevation is 73044 M S L which
is about half-a-foot below conser-
vation pool
