First tire ever vulcanized by atomic energy instead of heat is
examined by scientists from The B F Goodrich Company Akron
Ohio following its removal from the mold at the Atomic Energy
Commission's National Reactor Testing Station Idaho Encased in
a steel mold the tire was lowered into a 17-foot water canal and
exposed to radioactive fuel elements Tread was grooved Into tire
later
Tests show the nuclear vulcanized tiro to have considerably
better resistance to aging and deterioration than conventionally
vulcanized tires while the tread shows "above normal" resistance
to abrasion and wear B F Goodrich scientists said The tire is
believed to be the first large commercial Item over processed by
nuclear radiation and the first basic change In t'ao "nring" of
rubber products since the discovery of vulcamzation Iv 1839

I a horse" In one case a fellow did get
mad at a maie belonging to a
neighbor and maliciously iniured it
He was found guilty of malicious
inJury although he was mad at the
horse not the owner of the horse and
was punished accordingly
(This column based on Oklahoma
law is written to inform--not to
Do advise No person should ever apply
toe or interpret any law without the
aid of an attorney who knows the
facts because the facts may change
the application of the law)
Animal Rights
Lay that pistol down! It could be
a criminal offense to kill a horse or
cow
It's obvious that one shouldn't kill
other people's animals And it's
equally plain that if we do we can
and probably should be sued
But a person could be put tx hind
bars for gating angry at an animal
and summarily dispatching it to join
its ancestors
It's true though The law says that
"any person who shall willfully or
maliciously overdrive overload tor-
ture destroy or kill or cruelly beat
or injure maim or mutilate any
animal slmll be punished by
imprisonment " etc
Animals are protected even further
than that There is a statute that
prohibits bull fighting cock 110iting
dog fighting bear fighting Another
law says that you can't confine
animals without sufficient supply of
good and wholesome air food shel-
ter and water If a horse or mule is
unfit for work 5-ou can get pinched
for driving or riding it
The moral is "don't get mad at
