Cancer Is Deadly
Killer Your Dollars
Help To Fight It
Daily we read of new develop-
ments in the search for the cure
of cancer the number two killer
in the world
From almost every state in
the union has drifted stories which
indicate the intensified effort to
solve the mystery of cancer—a
disease both young and old fear
The cancer fight is so intense
today we find endless hours as
well as grog sums' of inqney' be-
ing spent in study and experi-
ments The task baffling as it
is has the interest and constant
efforts of the worlds loading re-
searchers and scientists behind
it Countless experiments have
failed yet hard work goes on to-
ward the ultimate accomplish-
ment of this goal
Although research institutions
and hospitals have organized pro-
grams for the study of the dis-
ease interest among doctors and
scientists is so keen that some
using their own funds carry on

Recently a magazine story re-
vealed the efforts of a midwest-
ern doctor whose interest in can-
cer sharpened by the loss of his
mother because of the disease de-
voted years studying a process
for cancer detection through
blood tests He died before his
work had been completed and
ironically so of cancer
Every three minutes someone
in the United States dies of aan-
eel It accounts for one out of
every eight deaths and for one
out of every four deaths of wo-
men between the ages of 45 and
55 No age group is safe not even
children
The Oklahoma State Health
Department reported 2224 per-
sons died of cancer in Oklahoma
in 1945 Of this number 239 were
reported in Oklahoma City ane
185 in Tulsa In the same year
8848 cases were reported in our
state
The figures have shown in the crat
