Rain moved in again in the early
morning hours Thursday and clouds
brought mire threat tor the day
The weather has been warm and
humid the past week as we continue
an unusual spell for July weather
in Ok latoma Several have razzed
us a bit about starting this column
off about the weather but they faii
to realize that many who read this
newspaper live in other towns ard
states and even in other natioas
We try to paint for them and even
you a picture in words of just how
the old home town is fareing s To
them they can visualize as they
read the wet muddy streepts of 1 'er
kins the vacant lots with tall Weeds
and Johnson grass Muddy cars
and pavements Too it is not all
bad there is the rich green garden
retches the fields of fine corn and
Alfalfa anJ prairie hay it is a
beautiful country even though wet
and muddy and for July in Okla -
home mis er that is unusual
From the Philippine' s writes Sgt
Edgar VanZandt Ed says his rank
is staff sergeant instead of master
sergeant as was previously reported
He say he gets the Journal just
about a month late bat seally gets
the news out of it and keeps up
with the many changes of the old
home town Says he will probably
have a furlough so can be home in
January semetime Says it's hot
at Clark Yield AFO 719 P 1
Not much new 'here here this week as
there is r a county run-off candi
dates and its too early for general
election electioneering the wet wea-
ther has slowed down construction
work semc as well as oil field pro-
gress Business is rather slack and
it s to wet to fish We notice the
Atoms with fresh peaches and the
Mack's grhcery has several bushel
elong the windmv ledge outside the
store Ralph Grimm and family
are now home from a trip through
the west They had a little acci-
dent in Oregon when a car ran into
the back of their new gas buggy
But didn't do much danmge The
: new water weli al the east edge of
town is not resdy yet hewever the
0 G K was here the first of the
week getting the electric line all
fixed for itso perhaps weli have
two good wells soon If the wet
s immer keeps up we'll be all right
with one well Young Kenneth
Mushrush has a dandy power lawn
mower and keeps real busy these
days when you can sit on the front
porch in the evenings and just
watch the grass grow taller
Last week when the Mark Rains
visited rcilativez here one would
have thought that Mark would have
enjoyed a little ' rest since his duties
call for mere er less physical acti-
vity but instead he walked all ovei
the neighborhood showing off his
little nine weeles old granddaughter
So it's grandpa Mark now and from
all reports he bas just cause for be-
ing proud of the fine looking little
lady However he has nothing on
g andpa Dell Lewis who they visit-
ed since !sell has a fsirly new and
a fine grandson to brag about
A big crowd gathered last Friday
at the Dale Holbrook coener while
the pressure pump of the fire truel
cleaned out the clogged culvert just
south of the filling station here
We noticed W O Hoover it: town

lust Saturday however about 2 pm

about 3 o'clock so we could have
the drawing then it rained some
more and it was a wet damp day
Representatives of the Turner Biss
company were in town this week in
response to the desires of local per-
sons who are anxious and desirous

tended and enjoyed the impressive
service and choir presentation in
the dedication of the electronic
