A Grand Reception
On Saturday night the business
men of Goodwell gave a reception
to the students of the Summer Nor-
mal and fucully of the P A I
This is one of the business mens
annual spreads and when they do a
tiling of tills kind it is useless to
state that the occasion was a very
enjoyable success in every wuy A
large crowd was present and several
hundreds of ice cream cones were
served
One of the features of the evening
was a reading by Prof Cousins
which created considerable laughter
and applause
The fortune tellers in their tepees
attracted considerable attention uud
many were told of the future filled
with prosperity happiness among
the pnlmfcund roses
The grand murch around the
large auditorium headed by the
futnous Gypsy fortune teller Miss
Lucille Smith and Prof Bryan oc-
cupied several minutes and afforded
ull an opportunity to meet and get
acquainted
To suy the least the evening wus
very delightfully spent by all pres-
ent hih! the crowd depurted at a
lute hour feeling fully paid forgoing

ticket Mr Dale huils from Mis-
souri where his folks were pioneers
in settling western Missouri und he
endured the privutions incident to
the settling of a new country in his
childhood He graduated from the
University of hard knocks and later
from the Law Department of the
University of Missouri Ifuving ar-
rived ut manhoods estate the cull
of the wild west was too great for
him und he came to “No Man’s
Land" wuy Luck in the Territorial
days He was a resident of Texas
comity at her birth and assisted in
bringing her into existence His
shingle whs ulreudy flying in the
gentle zephyrs that swept the Pan-
handle plums when that event was
ushered in und he brought the first
civil suit ever instituted in the courts
of Texas County und defended the
first criminal ever brought to the
bur of justice in this county

plenty he hus stayed on content
with the rewards that the profession

Mr Dale is a Democrat by heredi-
ty having been born of Democratic
purents He has not depurted from
the teachings of ids youth and still
stands stuunch for that organiza-
tion "The Democratic Purty" which
hus for its object the suppression
of crime He has filled fevery office
of the party in Texus County with
honor to himself and credit to the
purty having been successively
Secretary Chairman and Campaign
Munuger of the party In this county
He hus been an active exponent of
honest elections and took an active
hund in cleuuing up the Democratic
purty a few years ago when elec-
tions were openly stolen in this
county he having been chairman
of the muss convention of Demo-
crats that sounded the death knell
to all who would attempt to defeat
the will of the people us expressed
ut the polls
At ull times he hus stood for law
enforcement ane buck in the days
when bootleggers flourished in Tex-
as county lie was president of the
Law Enforcement Leugue of Texus
County and gave the elements of
the underworld to understand that
the laws of this slate must be obey-
ed Since the muntle of authority as
County Attorney has fuilen on his
shoulders he has made an enviable
record not having lost a single mis-
deineunor case and only one felony

compelled a more decent respect for
