Greetings Friends! This is the
New Year January 1931
The little new fellow has replaced
the old fellow with the sythe—the
youngster is rapping at our door to
tell 113 another 365 days have been
registered against tui—and that reso-
lution time is here for your consid
tratiott
Next to a preidential election
there is nothing that upsets the coun-
try's economic equilibrium like "wait-
ing until after the first of the year"
of course the dawn of a new year has
it benefits It gives opportunity for
taking new lease on life—the start-
ing of a new fiscal year for the poc-
ketbook and a new nioral term for
the soul
the month of January so history
says carries with it the distinction
of being the birth month of famou
men who have passed on to the other
bhore and then 'too the month
marks the death of prominent
'even former presidents of the United
States because the death of Theo-
dore Roosevelt is recorded as on Jan-
uary 6 1919
In the record of men nationally
blown who were born in January
we find the names of Ilenjamis
nanktin January 17 1706 Daniel
Weirter -January 18 1782 Robert
Lee January 19 1807 Stonewall
Jackson January 21 1821 William
MeNinley JInuary 29 1843
Other pleAt events of importance
lirted as history now was the Em-
ancipation Proclamation January 1
1863 the Battle of New Orleans
January 8 1815 the draft law up-
held by the United States Supreme
Court January 7 1018 Great Bri-
tains North Sea victory In World
War January 24 1917 and the an-
nouncement of submarine war by
Germany January 31 1917
The birthstone for the mon:1 of
January is garnet denoting con-
stancy and fidelity

LIBERTY NEWS
Our new "young folks organiza-
tion" is progressing nicely By next
Sunday night we expect to have one
literature and a set of rules for each
side to gain points We have been
having a larger crowd at singing
each Sunday night since the organi-
zation started We always appre-
ciate visitors and believe that a few
were gained by the party given by
Roy Johnson who is one of the lead-
eTs Although Delphia Lawrence re-
signed her position as leader Miss
Margaret Ledsinger WAS elected in
her place and we eNpect the work
to be carried on just the same
Mr Fore Tarp ly and Happy Jack-
son will be with us next Sunday
night They are starting a sing-
ing school here January 5 1930
Mr Fore spent the last six weeks at
the Stamps Baxter Music school of
Dallas and will be plenty able to
teach us the new principles of music
All the young folks of this commun-
ity are planning to attend the sing-
ing at Wynnewood View next Sun-
day to celebrate the arrival of Mr
Tarply and Happy We hope to see
all our old friends there and any
one else who is interested in singing
We extend a welcome to all those
wishing to attend' our "singing
school" and especially encourage
parents to bring their children Some
of the best singers of this country
are under fifteen years of age
New settlers are moving in and old
ones are moving out but we hope
they will all rush back to Liberty on
Sunday night and bring someone
with them

When Dr Caldwell started to practice
pledicine back in 1875 the needs for a
laxative were not as great as today
people lived normal lives ate plain
wholesome food and got plenty of fresh
air But even that early there were
trutie physics and purges for the relief
Pt constipation which Dr Caldwell did
!tot believe were good for human beings
The prescription for constipation that
be used early in his practice and which
he put in drug stores in 1892 under the
Paulo of Dr Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin
Is a liquid vegetable remedy intended
tor women children and elderly people
