Cleaning Bee Sounds Fine
But There's a Catch
RUTH MILLET?
(AU rights relined NEA Service Int)
In one California town a stoup
of women think they've solved Ins
problem of taking the drudgery
out of housecleaning
Instead of each housewife's
doing her heavy cleaning alone
they get together and do one
house at a time Armed with the
mops and brooms and dust cloths
theyve brought to the house
cleaning bee they whiz through
the work and have a fine time
In the bargain
According to these happy
housecieaners the plan works
fine But I'll bet there is one
flaw to the scheme that the lad
leo wouldn't admit—even to each
other
Knowing women fairly well
I'd be willing to bet that the
day before the gang is due to ar
rive at say Mrs Jones' house
to give it a thorough clean Mrs
Jones spends the working alone
to get the house clean enough
to cause any raised eyebrows
among her helpful friends
I can even hear the converse
tion between Mr and Mrs Jones
on a Tuesday evening when the
cleawup gang is due to arrive al
the Jones' house bright and early
Wednesday morning
"What have you been doing
all day dearr saki Mr Jones
when he comes in from work
and see that his wife is wearing
her exhausted wtat-a-daythisi
has-been look
If you really want to know"
says Mrs Jones wearily "I've
cleaned the oven defrosted and
cleaned the icebox straightened
the kitchen cupboards scrubbed
the bathroom floors"—and so on
"But" silks Mr Jones inno-
cently "aren't the girls supposed
to come over tomorrow and help
you clean? I thought that was the
Idea of your getting together to
do the cleaning—so none of you
wouliljuive to do it alone"
And then Mr Jones is sure to
learn little more about the way
the feminine mind works as Mrs
Jones explains "You don't think

sary evil we must accept
For 9944 of us that thinking

Not so with furnaces
Most of vs still figure a Air
nice is a furnace Not much dif-
ference between them A neces-
sary evil we must accepL
But stop and think about it
Just as individuals differ from
each other so do buildings and
the needs of the people who live
in those buildings That means
the heating system must vary to
meet the exact needs of the build-
ing and the occupants ' it
must be carefully selected and
installed Just "any kind" of a
furnace or installation won't do
(As With a wife you usually
select it for a lifetime)
A good furnace dealer has to
be ready with all sixes and models
of furnaces (air conditioners
too) Only then can he' custom
tailor the right system for any
given building That is one of the
reasons why Douglas-Pierce Co
Ls a Lennox dealer The sensation-
al new Lennox Landmark line of
furnaces and air conditioners is
modular flexible O that
scores of 'different outputs aril
available It fills the bill where
other brands with gaps in the
line can't come close And that's
the truth about gaps
