Into their rooms
"That's the funniest arrange-

confusion
A Spectacular View
The reporters and photograph-

locked door in the belief Leopold
soon would leave to catch a plane
to Puerto Rico where he will work
in a mission hospital
However Leopold became ill en
route from Stateville Penitentiary
to Chicago and spent the night at
Brown's apartment
The apartment was an ideal
place for Leopold to spend his
first day "on the outside" In-
stead of the grim gray walls of
Stateville Leopold had stared at
for more than 33 years he had
a spectacular view of the loop
the busy outer drive and Lake
Michigan
And Leopold could scarsely
avoid the view even if he wanted
All of the 392 apartments in the
2I-story building enjoy a view of
the lake but Brown's two-bedroom
apartment zommands one of the
better views One wall of the large
living mom is made almost en-
tirely of glass
The reporters had had time to
make themselves comfortable be-
fore the 15th floor residents re-
