Con Game Reported
Altus water may not exactly be noted for its good taste, but
an item reported recently has got police looking for three
men.
An Altus resident on Oklahoma Drive called police around
2:15p.m. Wednesday reporting that three men were trying to
sell her a water softening permit, claiming that Altus water
causes cancer and that the water softener would rid the
water of its cancer-producing elements.
Jiffy Store Robbed
The Thanksgiving morning marked the armed robbery of
the Jiffy Food Store on North Main around 8 08 a ,m
Odessa Pierce, store employe, said that a black man
wearing plaid pants and a cap over his face, walked into the
store, showed a gun and made off with some $125 from the
cash register. The employe added that the robber apparently
left the scene on foot.
As of press tune today no suspect has been arrested.
