reopening of college classes
following the Labor Day holiday.
Tuesday also will be the final
day for new students to register
for the fall semester classes
Administrative dean, Cecil
Chesser, said chang over to the
state system is moving very
well
"Almost all students realized
the school would now be
operating under rules of the
state system and were prepared
to pay their fees in full," the
dean said. Some of the nearby
Texas students who had planned
to commute were surprised to
learn of the $16.50 per hour out-
of-state fee. Some did not
register as a result but others
did.
As word spreads to the seven
county junior college district of
the special rates for residents of
this area we expect more and
more students to drive in from
the more distant counties.
"Even those who drive 75 or
more miles will find it a saving
to attend AJC at $7.25 per hour.
Actually, in most instances it is
not a monetary reason that
prompts the student to enter
AJC.
"Almost all with whom we talk
have chosen the college for the
individual attention they receive
from instructors and the op-
portunity of attending smaller
classes."
With its enlarged academic
and post-high school vocational
curriculum, the college will be
able to serve high school
graduates seeking both im-
mediate job opportunities and
basic work for higher degrees.
