Once in written form the resolution
along with a letter from the task
force will lie sent to Sen Don
Nickles, Sen. David Boren, English
and McCurdy.
Tillman County was a prime exam-
ple of the resolution in action. “The
situation has been very detrimenetal
to the dryland farmers in Tillman
County," Yates said "A lot of the
cotton had literally burned up, the
grade has been hoi rendous and the
price has been worse. The commit
tee’s vision was if we can help so-
meone in another area, even though
it may not effect us as much but if
we can all help each other, it will
give us more strength."
Sen. Bob Kerr was present at the
Monday meeting and he had glowing
remarks for the task force. "I'm
thrilled to see the group’s activites. I
feel like agriculture and energy has
been completely flat at the same
time and this put us in a depression "
Kerr said. "I believe we need to
diversify and agriculture is one of
our great strengths If this group
could bring to this area new in-
dustries, that would help
everybody "
Kiowa County member John
Coakley was also supportive of the
task force. “I think the task force has
a lot of possibilities I’m real pleased
by the efforts put out by Jackson,
Kiowa. and Tillman counties, and I
think Greer, Hannon and Washita
will come along," Coakley said
