I meet all competition so will do

my opponents have said they will do

running for this office
I did not wish to become a candi-

fact that so many of my lying friends
promised to vote for me I decided to
place myself Upon the alter of self-

the back
I th
If you will send me a piece of
paper bearing the photo of George
Washington on it I will be forever
rateful to you — I don't believe in
letting George do it all either but am
willing to spend your money—it al-
ways seems easier to spend the other
fellers money than my own
I don't promise you anytilng that
basal already been promised you ex-
cept taxes and death plenty of water
to itrink providing that the Republi-
cians don't bring on a drouth
In case it comes to pass that water
becomes scarce you can rely on the
bootlegers down in Oklahoma City and
Tulsa
I also will see that you have free
stir to breath unless sen Kerr uses
it all up for manufacturing gaa In or-

please take notice
I would give you more relief but as
the "folks" who have their money
invested ittr053 the pond in oil -wells
and °taut enterprise I must take care
of them first
I am very incised that the "Reds"
over in Moscow have seen fit to as-
sminate a Hungarian—but of course
the fact that they have 9 Mnericans
in the "pokey" in East Germany is
no concern of mine
I would get up on my hind legs and
do a little talking for the rest of you
Americans but I must see to the
fact that "my fences" are in order
for if they ever tumble down I will
have nothing to straddle and with-
out any planks in my platform I
would be at tkie mercy of you voters
if you had "guts" enough to tell me
where to go—which Is a region ttiat
is said to require no coal

Brown Spider
Joins State's
Poison Array
The brown spider once considered
harmless is the latest addition to Ok-
lahoma's already formidable array of
highly poisonous insects and related
beasties
While not as poisonous as the fam-
ed black widow Meth causes an occa-
sional duath it is capable of inflict-
ing a seVere bite reports Dr D E
Howell head of Oklahoma State uni-
versity's entomology department
Flesh around the bite usually dies
and sloughs off Lesions five inches
across have been rcported Several
victims have been hospitalized
Since the spider usually hides deep
in cracks !4itrubbery and other Se-
cluded Spots ION persons are apt to
be bitten Dr Howell itys It inhabits
northeast and north central Okla-
homa and may live in other sections
It is brown v‘ Rh a darker brown
stripe down the back Adults are
about the size of an adult black wi-
dow Unlike many spiders it is not
hairy and the small plate atop the
head is concave instead of convex
While tine brown spider was first
identified as poisonous about two
years ago the black widow the na-
tions only other highly venomous
spider has been known as a danger-
ous biter for years But says Howell
many misconceptions about it per
sist
First he explains it is not always
black—the males which are also poi-
onous are gray Only females have
the red hourglass-shaped Marking on
the underside Sometimes they do not
even have it
Howell says the tarantula another
member of the spider faintly common-
ly believed to be extremely poisonous
actually has a very mild bite
"I'd much rat her be bitten by a
tarantula than stung by a bee" he
says 1
While tthe back widow and brown
spiders can deliver painful danger-
ous bites Howell believes they have
a worthy competitor in the kissing
bug a widely distributed parasite of
rats
Its bite hits been known to cause
some victims to lapse into a coma
The bug is black with red dots around
the abdomen Its name derives from a
habit of landing art the lips of its

ance 'Moore land is t'horoughly con-
vinced that no one is 8ale in making
a dogmatic statement regarding the
existence or lack of same of any
known species of wildlife in Sooner
State Two weeks ago any wildlife
expert in Oklahoma would have said
the wild pig known as a ''Peccary"
or "Jaye lina" Just didn't exist outside
of zoos or private collections within
Oklahoma
Then last Saturday morning Ran-
ger Purviance received a call to come
to the Henderson farm near Moore-
land to capture a wild pig which was
molesting the Henderson's domestic
baby pigs After tracking and running
the animal over a large part of Wood
ward County it was finally cornered
and t4bot Purviance identified it as
a collared peccary
There are two species of the pec-
cary related to the pig found in the
Americas from Texas to Argentina
The collared peccary ranges from
Argentina to Arkansas The animals
feed on various plants and animal
foods and are considered vicious
