The "Post Script"
BY THE OLD-TIMER
I always like to get up vial) of a
morning as it gives me more time to
do nothing
Then too it enables me to retire
early as I an torn out trying to
nnd nothing to do
I have always heard that "lie who
tooteth not his own aloria the same
1111111 not be tooted"
amMmEdmoMO
I will add to that "It you have
Goinething to toot about sty not
toot?"

The Mound City (Kansasi Republic
last week carried a news story of a
father near there had reared six sons
five of whom had served in the Navy
as he himself did and all five of
them were Democrats the youngest
one thou has enlisted in the Army
and it is feared he will turn out to
he a Republican
All I can say about the deal la that
any time a father can rear 6 sons in
Kansas and only have one a Repub-
hian is mighty lucky — and then he
hhould be or deserve at least one
bmart one
MRNMPPMIAgb
Now down here in Oklahoma it is
different—here a Republican Ls prac-
tially disfranchised when it comes to
voting The Democrats put up a full
ticket for most offices and a Primary
is held A voter registered as a Re-
publican cannot or is supposed not to
vote the Democrat ticket at a prim-
ary and as a result the winner in a
primary is practically elected to the
iiffice--as most of the elections do
not have anyone running on the Re-
publican ticket
It hits been said that all men are
crtated equal but I do not belive It
Take for instance: troy Gordon gets
paid for writing a column "Round the
Clock" in the Tulsa World which ac-
cording to my way of thinking isn't
as good as mine and what do I draw
— nothing not even a Social Security
When you have a cold it is said that
a doctor over in Miami fills you so
full of drugs and pills that if you
sneeze you'd probably cure two or
tIllree other people
Smart people mey speak from ex-
perience smarter people from
experience don't speak
I am about filled up with the kind
of weather but It seems that I am
like most of the law makers up in
Congress when it comes to helping
Oklahoma oil men arid miners — I
can do a lot of talking but that is
about as far as I ever get
I wonder how those "big wigs" in
Washington figure that an income
tax cut will help those who have no
income?
I rcad where Uncle Sam has put-
ohased several millions dollars of gold
from some foreign countries — I
suppose the supply here is getting
low in that hole where it is supposed
to be buried
I have for sometime been giving
serious thought as to how I can keep
my right hand from knowing what my
h it hand is doing or has done
I am a firm believer If I ever mas-
ter that problem that I might some
day become a rich man
For instance: If you are righthand-
ed and your left hand reaches Into
your left !hip pocket and extracts
your pocketbook it is Invariably your
rIght hand that reaches in and pulls
out the money
IINPOMNIMlik
Now with a woznan It Is different
S'ae will deposit ler handbag In her
lap or on a table to start scrambl-
ing around in it with both hands
after filling her mouth with hairpins
a comb or a pencil digging out a
bandkerobief she will finally come
up with her purse Both ihands then
become engaged In the opening of
mid purse and with a triumphal
gleam on her face rind a smile in her
eyes band you the money
Then the restuffing of her tiandbag
starts
But none of that helps me get the
se cr ecy that I need Only the Govern
mental departments such as the Army
Navy and Air Force can keep top sec-
retst from each onther

The City Hall in Afton Tuesday af-
ternoon looked like an old-time elec-
tion day More interest was taken in
the School Board election this spring
than has occurred in some time at
least since our tenure here Both
candidates are upright well thought
of young men of the behool district
and supporters on both sides were out
to vote for them
At about 5:15 o'clock When we left
the voting place 453 had cast their
ballots and a busy our vas in pro-
spect for the ballot committee Polls
opened at 2 o'clock and closed at six
which left little time for any hill in
voting
And by the way did you stop to
glance at the architect's drawing of
the new additon planned for the
school? A much needed band room
