the 1957 Cancer Crusade for
Okfuskee County
Under this leadership volun-
teers during April will conduct
the 1957 Cancer Crusade in this
county by urging health examina-
tions for early detection of cancer
and by raising the county's share
of the $260000 needed by the
Oklahoma City cancer society Ap-
ril 1
At this meeting experts will
dscuss latest devklopments in
cancer research and work with
county chairman in mapping next
steps in the fight against the
deadly killer which strikes down
3000 Oklahomans a year
"We want to get across to the
public" Abshier said "That
many of these persons can be
saved by early discovery of cancer
and p nipt treatment We want
to urge people to take advantage
of what is already known to save
lives from cancer and do our part
in the list of conquered diseases

New Farmers of America held
their annual Parents Banquet on
March 27 It was attended by
123 The crowd has out-grown the
vocational agriculture building so
the gym was decorated and the
dinner held there Tom Withers
and Jr Achison of the NFA had
the boys in the best of form
Included was the opening cer-
emony with Milford Heath as
president M A White described
the emblem of the NFA stating
Ft meant much to the members
Orations were given by Ralph
Walker who spoke on residual ef-
fects of NFA training and Mil-
ford Heath who spoke on the
meaning of vocational training
