THE GREAT ISSUE
Prohibition is theltrreat issue today
in American politics We are in a
rewlutionary reformation raging a-
round the Vo !stead Act
During the 192g campain Raskob
chairman of the democrat party on 1
this issue said:—
"If Al Smith can evolve a plan for
the regulation and control of the
liquor question in a way that will
absolutely prevent the return of
saloons and eliminate bootlegging
with its accompanying evils then
all fair minded men must 'admit
his right—or duty—to promulgate
such a system"
Raskob thus exactly adopted my
plank uttered long ago an consis-
tently tdiged ever after As a del-
egate tl a state Christian church
convehtion at Albia Iowa in 1901
was on the program and on the
way home about 25 in the car nuizz-
cd me about some advance ideas
Among My answers were--"You
'Preachers are getting off on the
wrong foot You should start a
wnmrinnt tn rin away with Liquor
License instead of going against the
Bible in trying to abolish it"
I have never chantfed or weakened

but ' until I read Raskob I never
knew of another yet who agreed
with me The 18th Amendment will
"prevent" saloon licenses and with
out saloon monopoly liquor can be
reasonably controlled by law and
old evils prevented
1 would abolish the Volstead Act
and let each state handle its own li-
quor laws subject to the 18th A-
mendment Neither radical6 nor ruffians ever
settle issues apd prohibition will
never settle itself until faith and
cooler heads induce a majority to
respect and lodow those Covenant
(contract) Laws found in the var-
ious versions' of the Book we call the
Bible and which we claim as our
standard authority on good rovern-
ment and honest ways My plank
on liquor is the exact Law of God
on Temperance
Children Make Homebrew
And no law can ever be success-
fully enforced In I v Christian country
AGAINST GOD! Here in Oklaho-
ma after 20 years expensive exper-
ience it is a commonly accepted fact
that from 60 to 70 percent of the
city population make home-brew and
drink it a little above 8-percent al-
cohol The children are taught to
make it In the country white
mule is the drink usually above 50-
percent alcohol The Drybone "un-
it" has found it best to desist from
'harassing homes and finds it easy
to live out of "illicit traffic" among
neighbors
But the present regime employs
snoopers snitches and 'crun-thugs
and seems to ey: "Bring in all sus-
pects dead or alive"
When innocent ones are killed
Mrs Willibrant has the killer tried
and "justified" in a federal court
When taken alive with half a pint
in their pockets they are "transpor-
ters" or "rum runners" and are rail-
roaded for 5 years—and apt as not
find $10000 for good measure
While the "unit" is in clover as a
BUSINESS—the graft is chiefly on
poor families Again considered a-
side from the Bible when from 60 to
70 percent of the race naturally
craves wine and the satiation of
the apnutite is neither criminal nor
immoral per sethe stopping of it is
very much like stopping the Cana-
dian river
Covenant vs Doctrines
Drybone religion is a railroad ex-
pedientand not in harmony with the
Covenants of Moses sr! 40 us and
Paul Jesus said to the eharisees:
"It is in vain that ye worship teach-
ing doctrines and precepts of men"'
St Paul wrote: "Taste not handle
not touch not after doctrines and
precepts of men which things have
it is true a show of wisdom in will-
worship and self denial and humil-
ity but are of no value against the
indulgences of the flesh"
Gospel strictly means good works
—charity and kind deeds The New I
Testament is Nil of statements
that "every man shall be judged ac-
cording to their works" No one
will ever be saved by his doctrines
If he is a Christian preacher no
matter what his beliefs if he does
no charity work among the poor he
lc' lost

mandments of God and hold on to

fussing with those who are doing
lis work—he's at peace with the
Drybones—modern PhaVisees His
business is safe in their hands

FOR THOSE WANTING IT BUT PARTICULARLY
FOR THOSE NEEDING IT AND PERHAPS NOT
AWARE OF THE FACT
A Better Body
IN ORDER TO MAKE POSSIBLE
A Better Mind
BOTH OF WHICH MAKE POSSIBLE
A BETTER PERIOD OF ANIMATION ON EARTH
Chiropractic
EXPLAINS HEALTH AND THE WAY TO REACH IT
ENGINS klUMAN MOTORS
NEED ADJUSTMENTS
A middle-aged merchant owns an auto
that is nine years old He declares that it is
the only car he ever expects to own and that he
intends to make it last as long as he wants to
drive a car
The finish is beginning to show its age but
in point of speed pick-up and economy of gas
and oil the car is almost like new:
"The secret is all in the way I keep it up"
the owner explains
"I never let it really get out of order I
watch it carefully When I notice that it drops
in speed or takes more time than usual to get
under way or makes fewer miles per gallon I
take it to my repair man and have it adjusted
"So long as it is in proper adjustment it
never gets to a point where it needs actual re-
pairs and it stays pretty close to its original
condition of performance In this way I can
even head off the wear and tear that is regard-
ed asnormal for a car"
If the people of America would adopt this
man's method of taking care of his car and ap-
ply it to the conditioning of theio bodies they
would save more dollars per year than the coun-
try now spends for improved roads It would
also add to their juys of living
The resemblances between an automob:le
and a-human body are many and intimate
Both are engines converting fuel and air into
energy to do work Both can generate their
energy while going along Both can stop tin-
gear their traveling machinery and use their
energy to do other kinds of work
The Chiropractor is the adjuster for the
human motor If it is brought to him at the
first sign of decreased efficiency he will save it
from the need of undergoing actual repairs that
are expensive and dangerous Even though the
exterior may show signs of age he will keep the
machinery going with the highest possible ef-
ficiency and economy
If you want to be what you used to be if
you want to be as good as you are now for a
Ion gtime go to your Chiropractor and let him
adjust you here and there until every organ of
your body is operating properly Then g
him occassionally to make sure that you stay in
proper adjustment
This is the higest economy—the best of
Investments—in health happiness good looks
and in dollars and cents
Give your body the same chance you would
give a fine motor for good performance!

IN TIIE HEALING WORLD
The Doctor who advocates that "a merry
)laugh doeth good like medicine" depends on this
laughter to increase the output of nerve force
and start the body parts on their way to health
But the strength that arises out of fear comes
form a shock to the nervous system that arous-
es into intensive and bodily forces Man be-
comes super-powerful for the instant but the
d
reaction is harmful
Thus the psychologist the suggestive ther-
apeutist points the mind toward the desired end
and sets in motion the nervous organisms of the
sick to achieve the desired results
Sleep clears up a headache or reduces a
fever by relaxing the body and conserving the
nervous energy diverting it from physical and
mental activity into channels of healing -
The laughing and talking effects of alcohol
are due to a paralysis of the normal nerve con-
trol so that every thought and feeling that
comes into the mind 1 runs riot uncontrolled
through the nervous system
Chiropractic is an exception to the re that
healing comes through the nerves
However Chiropractic has advantages all
its own Here are some of them:
1 Chiropractic repuires no measurement
of the dosage at the hands of the doctor Un-
der Chiropractic services nature herself deter-
mines the amount and the distribution of the re-
medy This means that the dosage will always
be correct rs
2 The nerve force of the body is always
available always ready for action (If you
would like to see just how promptly nerve force
can start for its scene of action touch a live
electric contact and see how long the current
takes to act)
3 Chiropractic does not take some foreign
substance from the outside and put it into your
body thus imposing on the body the work of
throwing it out later
To sun the situation up Chiropractic is the
ustural way of oercoming bodily defects and
hurtful bodily conditions so as to permit normal
functioning of every body part
It is the last word in the world of healing
I
because tis the most helpful and the least
harmful of all healing ways
Many patients of all ages from infants to
old age look forward to their Chiropractic ad
justments with real delight
