Way Worn Preacher
The following1 parody on the Way-
worn Traveler was handed us by one of
our brother ministers which was clip1
ped from some paper we do not know
one and therefore cannot give credit
Tune — The Way-worn Traveler
I saw a way-worn preacher his back
was poorly clad
Traveling on a circuit with the local
help he had
Ills pocket-book was empty provisions
almost gone
But trusting in the promise he knew
supplies would come
Chorct— Then Palms of Victory faith
abiding
Then Palms of Victory I
shall wear
A Busy Town In the Midst of a Peerless
Farming Country
Enid Eagle
Hiram lfardin spent Sunday in the
beautiful little city o Helena on the
Arkansas Valley t Western about
thirty miles west of Enid He reports
teverything progressing at a marvelous
rate there
Among the new buildings under
bourse of construction are the magnif-
icent new county high school structure
a big ilouring mill a mammoth brick
general store building double brick
bank building other business build-
ings and numerous residences
The people of Helena are of the in-
telligent and progressive sort They
believe in doing things right They
have a splendid town in a splendid
fcommuHity and its future is assured
Its two newspapers the Herald and
'the Frefe Press are clean and enter-
prising and to then! is due much of
the credit fob the success of the city
Many strangers are visiting the town
bnd a good per centage of them to lo-
bate or invest
The summer sun was shining tempta-
tion on his brow
When sntan sealed the mountain aDd
tried to make him bow
‘This world is all my store-house as
everybody knows
And I will pay you wages and give you
better clothes”
Chorus
While gazing on the offer of one with
naught ta give
He said “Get behind me satan it’s not
for bread I live
I'm trusting in the promise exceeding
great and true:
Then gloryl liullelujahl I’ll never wor-
ship you”

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Chorus
If President Roosevelt while bn his
western trip don't come to Helena
he will miss seeing the most mar-
velous town in Oklahoma
A brother on his circuit who lived
side the way
Attracted his attention inviting his
delay
He took him In his carriage with mo-
tives very mute
And drove liiin to the village and pur-
chased him a suit
Chorus
I saw him in the evening provisions
run ashore
But early in the morning was flour at
the door
His faith had reached the climax God’s
promise verified
Go preach the Holy Gospel your needs
Bhall be supplied

One difference between President
Roosevelt in firing the isthmian canal
commission and some people We know
of is that the president wanted to put
pushers oh the board while some other
people would prefer a knocker every
time

A report came from Alva Wednesday
that the prisoners charged with wreck-
ing the Helena State Hank safe came
near making good their get-a-way
Tuesday night They hud been allow-
ed the privilege of the corridor of the
'jail and had with a round broken
from a chair dug a hole through the
brick wali and tunneled to the surface
when a ‘ passer-by seeing the light
coming but of the ground gave the
alarm and they were stopped They
would doubtless have made their escape
'had they taken time to make the hole
large enough in the first place To
pay for their fun they were not only
put in cells but were chained therein
