It has been sugcested that Alva
as other cities are doing should
have a clean-up campaign that
the peopel should be asked to
i clean up their premises and stack
I a the cans and rubbish in a r

the city can pick it up and haul
it off
Another suggestion that has
' been made is that the city should
i increase the water allowance so
the citizens can use more water on
their gardens
The drouth is slowing up the
growth of garden-stulf and rain
is badly needed in most sections
of the city to produce a good gar-

81 The Daily Record humbly sug-

early action on both of these mat-

OKLAHOMA CITY May 1—
ti'lly---The legislature cleared away
all but one of the session's revenue
bills today and made final adjourn-
ment one week from tonight al-
most certain
The senate passed the 2 per cent
sales tax continuation bill after
giving up plans to ask for a fur-
ther conference
Both houses passed bills extend-
ing the 1 cent gasoline tax and the
motor vehicle excise tax and elect-
ed a 2 per cent levy on goods
brought into Oklahoma front states
without a sales tax
Only One Held
The only hitch occurred in the
house where representatives de-
feated by three votes a bill rais-
ing the motor vehicle license tag
rates on automobiles and adjust-
ing them on buses and trucks
Floor leader James C Nance
was so confident the bill would
be passed upon reconsideration
Monday with more members pre-
sent he ordere I it enrolled for
signature
Under the constitution no reve-
nue bills may be passed in the
last five days of the session The 1
deadline for tax bills is Monday
Inight' and leaders predicted the rel
quiremet would be met
Expiration Date
The sales tax bill provides an
expiration date of June 30 1933
and turns the net tax collected
revenue to the'' state pension fund
The gasoline tax cleared with
only one amendment by Senator
Charles Albright of Alva and was
readily passed in the bowie The
amendment excluded from taxa-
tion kerosene used for agricultur-
al purposes
Taxation provisions also are
broadened to include Diesel motor
