We are sure that these leaders in
our federal governmeht are not will-

they willing to do anything to deter
the advancement of public educa-

Board Holds Up
OK of Budget
Final approval by the county ex-
cise board on the 1949-50 Woods
county budget is being withheld
pending a statement from the
county assessor on the county tax
evaluation
Kent Fash county assessor has
said that the county evaluation is
'complete except for word from state
'authorities on evaluations of some
districts which may have changed
due to consolidations
Meanwhile at their last meeting
the excise board voted to approve a
$670 extra help allowance for the
court clerk's office This is a raise
over the $330 allowed by the county
commissioner's in their original esti-
mate which cut the court clerk's
budget for the new fiscal year The
additional funds will be made avail-
able as needed
Another change in the budget
estimate made by the county com-
missioners sometime ago was to ap-
prove retaining a deputy in the
county treasurer's office while cut-
ting off the extra help fund In the
first budget estimate the county
treasurer's funds were cut to the
point that one deputy necessarily
would have been dismissed The ex-
tra help fund now discontinued
was for $825 while the deputy's sal-
ary is $1980—making an increase of
$1155 in the treasurer's estimated
1949-50 funds
