Add chopped fresh dates to
deviled ham and spread on
slices of bread which have been
treated to mustard butter Top
with a slice of processed Ameri-
can cheese and broil until it bub-
bles Serve with pickles or
chutney
Pile tuna or salmon sarad
lightly into avocado halves sprin-
kled with lemon juice Serve with
a garnish of cucumber slices car-
rot curls and candied pickle
slices
Pancakes are a taste-tempting
dessert for supper when they're
made thin spread with sour
cream chopped dates brown
sugar and then rolled
Frying onions? Give them
variety by adding some green
pepper slices to the onions
Add lemon rind and Juice to
melted butter for vegetable
variety For more variation add
to lemon butter one of the fol-
lowing: 1 teaspoon paprika or Ya
cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Beef stew takes on a glamorous
air when it's spooned into individ-
ual casseroles then ringed with
fluffy rice
Helen's Favorite:
Rhubarb Pie
(Makes 1 9-inch pie)
314 cups rhubarb cut in pieces
cup flour
lila cups sugar
1 egg slightly beaten
Pastry
Mix four sugar and egg
with rhubarb Place into
pastry-lined 9-inch pan and
cover with pastry strips or a
top crust in which openings
have been made Press edges
together flute and bake in a
hot (4257) oven for 40 to
45 minutes
