City Manager Appoints
City Officers
The city council met in regular
session Monday night and trans-
acted much business pertaining
to city affairs
A petition presented by citi-
zens on N Broadway requesting
a cement walk on the east side
of block two was read and on
motion of G H Fink referred
to the city manager
The Santa Fe made request
that the city sign a lease and on
motion of Fink the clerk was in-
structed to do so
C E Tool's motion that seventy-five
copies of the city charter
be printed carried unanimously
Central college presented a pe
tition to the city requesting that
the city vacate certain property
on Wahl street between 4th and
5th streets and on motion of C
English same was referred to
city manager
M W Keeney city manager
presented a report on Edmond's
fire equipment and made recom-
mendations for equipment and
supplies amounting to $300 On
motion of C F English the coun-
cil authorized the purchases
G H Fink moved that the city
manager's recommendation for
a ten-inch tile west of the septic
tank be laid Motion carried
The city manager appointed
the city officers and fixed their
salaries and on motion of C
Tool the appointments were con-
firmed They are as follows: J

Fink made a motion that res-
idents living outside of city lim-
its using the city septic tank be
charged a tax for same City
manager was instructed to do so
Toole's motion that the city at

city manager was given the third
reading and on motion of Eng-
lish was adopted
Hayson & Lukenbill's claim
for attorney fees was allowed

council restrained the new offi-
cers from taking their offices and
the question was settled in the
courts
Fink moved that city manager
locate transet and get it returned
to the city

A Big Crowd in Edmond
2nd Trade Day
Edmond's second Trade Day
was a grand success despite the
inclement weather A big crowd
braved the threatening downpour
and came to Edmond yesterday
to take advantage of the many
bargains offered by our Edmond
merchants Many brought live-
stock etc which was sold at
public auction free of chargé
The free picture show was en
joyed by all who attended The
next big Edmond Trade Day is
Wednesday May 19
Crawford Spearman
Makes "Hole in One"
The first member of the Ed-
mond Golf club became eligible
to membel ship in the "hole in
one" organization here Friday
when Crawford Spearman sank
his initial shot from the tee on
No 7 of the Edmond course
This hole is a ninetylard pitch
across a lake to the green
Spearman used a mashie nib-
lick for a back spin and placed
the ball squarely in the hole It
bounced up into the air two or
three times and settled back in
comfort The demonstration of
skill was witnessed by P M
Holmes W S Patten and Fero!
Oschner all fellow club members
The Edmond course has been
in use three years but this is the
first time anyone has sunk a hole
in one while playing it

dered for four sick ladies
Refreshments of ice cream and
cakes were served

Funds for Schools
At the school election held
Tuesday both propo itions for
tax levy for the maintenance of
the Edmond public schools car
ried by big majorities On the
first proposition an additional
levy of ten mills the vote was as
follows:
For 161
Against 6
On the second proposition a
levy of one-half mill for play-
ground pnrposes the vote re-
sulted: For 126
Agdinst 20
As will be seen by the above
figures a light vote was cast
However it was shown that
the voters of Edmond desire to
maintain the high standard of
the public schools

Team Wins Meets
Brunch() tennis team made a
clean sweep in the first meet of
the season against Phillips uni-
versity Friday
In the doubles events Bryant
and Bryant of Central won two
knight sets from Knowles and
Williams of Phillips 6-3 6-2

singles match over Roberts Phil-

The tennis team of Central
Teachers' college scored two wins
and one draw in their inter-collegiate
tennis matches this week
They took every match in a dual
with Phillips university This
was followed by a draw with
