sociation reports that the State
Dept of Health has released its
annual fact sheet on tuberculosis
in the state In 1957 Garfield
county had 66 cases on record 23
of them active Of these 15 were
new cases discovered in 1957
State-wide there were 1084
new cases reported last year and
158 deaths The death rate from
tuberculosis in the latest five-year
Period was 89 per 100000 popu-
lation in Oklahoma while the
rate in Garfield county was about
half that Of the 76 counties in
the state 16 had a lower death
rate than Garfield county

Dies Tuesday Night
Mn Eugene (Irene) noepple
died at 8:10 p m Tuesday at the
St Anthony's hospital at Okla-
homa City
A short prayer service will be
held 2 pm Friday at the Luth-
eran church in Covington
Funeral services will be held at
2:30 pm Friday at the high
school auditnrium
Perry Bowling Receives
Broken Back In Fall
Perry Bowling 70 received a
broken back about one pm Mon-
day in a fall at the farm where he
wa3 working 6 miles south and
a quarter mile east of Covington
Bowling going down an em-
bankment near a creek lost his
balance and fell off a 11 foot rock
cliff His wife was with him at the
time and carried him up the cliff
to where their pickup was parked
Dowling then drove the pickup
back to their home He was later
taken to St Mary's hospital Enid
The family reports he will pro-
bably be hospitalized a month or
more His room number is 314
