NO WAR WITH JAPAN
Sensible men in Japan as in this country must
deplore the war talk which is indulged in by tne
foolish to euch a large extent says the Oklahoma
City Times
A war with Japan would be a terrible tl ing
for an up to date nation in military matters wbic h
also labors under the belief that it is very lutfcy
to die for one’s country makes a very unpleasant
sort of enemy
There are numerous reosons why there is ioo
danger of war with Ja an ' The most important
of these is that Japan contracted a burden o-f d?bt
in the late unpleasantness with Russia -which
makes its tax rate higher considering the earning
power of the people and their land than that of
any other country on earth It is possible the ir
victory over Russia made the Japanese p-oud of
their prowess evou overbearing butitdidn t re
move the stern' fact that they had to pay fo their
victory in cold cash It didn’t mean murh but
glory and death and increased taxes
And that is true cf all modern wais alike to
victor and vanquished But still the bogy man of
Japanese war is pushed forward f the J&test hand
to urge it being HIIiRogers son of the Standard
Oil man of that name He sees the clash before
the Panama canal is completed in 1915 So much
war talk has been known to cause war but usu-
ally it comes whpn the people were willing Our
people do not want to fight Japan1 Therefore we
are beginning to believe that this war bogy is
urged forward principally by those who have mu-
nitions of war for sale or who being officially part
of our fighting force are locking fAr larger ap-
priations to be spent on themselvgs and incident-
ally promotions that lead to larger salaries

AND THE “BOSS” CRACKED IHS WHIP
If anybody indulged the hope cr even enter-
tained an idea that Lee Cruce would prove anj -thing
more than a cog in the wheel of the Haskell
machine or the Democracy would produce one
man out of their number of Senators and Repre-
sentatives who would reject the collar prepared
for them by the big boss they have j et failed to
grasp the power of a corrupt machine and aie
easily mislead by giving credence to the wind-
jaraing of designing politicians as is evidenced
by Cruce’s servility at Oklahoma City last Satur-
day in meekly bowing to the behests of Haskell
and the avidity with which the legislature on
Monday ratified every scheme laid down for their
approval
