According to U.S. Attorney Bill
Price, the reason commissioners are
allowed to plead guilty to one combined
count is in order to save the taxpayers
huge sums of money in court costs.
“By allowing them to plead guilty to
mail fraud and income tax charges we
accomplish the same results without

If the Oklahoma license plate
month decal on your automobile
or farm-tagged pickup looks like
the one above, your registration
will expire at the end of this
month. The owner will have all

registration. However, in the
month following the renewal
month, a penalty will accumulate
at 25 cents per day for three

How is it possible for county commis-
sioners who have been taking bribes for
10 or 15 years to be allowed to plead
guilty to one count? This is plain silly. I
imagine what they’re going to do when
they do try them is give them a slap on
the wrist instead of a good jail sen-
tence, fine and force them to make
restitution for the money they have
taken.

“we have come around and cleaned
them up,” said Baker. But he adds,
“we have no authority to go in and cut
somebody’s tree.”
If a tree presents a hazard, said
Wiseman, “we will notify the property
owner that they are responsible.”
If a tree or bush creates a safety
hazard by obstructing vision for driv-
ers on the road, the police can issue a
citation, he said.
