City was born April 14, 1916 in
Earlsboro, Oklahoma to Charlie and
Cora (Haskell) Pense and passed
away in Oklahoma City on June
12, 2003 at the age of 87.
She was married to Cecil
Johnson on December 16, 1937 in
West Texas. She and her husband

Louisiana, and Roy Johnson of
Oklahoma City; three daughters.

was honored at a dinner in Kansas
City for Junior Master Farmer of
FFA and was a Lifetime Honorary
Member of the 4-H. He was
chairman of the Pauls Valley Red
Cross and several other health
organizations that served the Pauls
Valley community.
He was a Deacon for over 10
years at the Paul and Pine Church
of Christ and an Elder for over 8
years and taught the same Bible
Class for over 50 years.
Mr. Tolbert was preceded in
death by his parents, Francis and
Amelia Tolbert; three brothers and
three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary
Tolbert, of the home; two
daughters, Sue Ellen Rae of Darien,
Connecticut and Marilynn Sharber
of Oklahoma City; his son-in-law,
Darrell Sharber of Oklahoma City,
who he loved as a son; six
grandchildren, Dava Ray, Scott
Fetgatter, Sean Fetgatter, Chris
Fetgatter; Beth Pearson and Jay
Johnson; 11 great-grandchildren;
nieces, nephews and numerous
friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Tolbert
will be June 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m.
at the Stufflebean Chapel with Roy
Shave officiating. Burial will be at
the Ml Olivet Cemetery. Services
are under the direction of the
Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

Woodrow Wilson Grimes a
lifelong resident of Wynnewood and
Hennepin area, was bom to Mac
and Ethel (Dill) Grimes on June 27,
1918 in Montague County, Texas
and passed away at his residence on
June 11, 2003 at the age of 84.
Mr. Grimes moved to Katie,
Oklahoma in 1920, grew up and
attended school in Katie and Elmore
City, and graduated from Elmore
City High School. After finishing
school, he served two years in the
Civilian Conservation Corp in
Purcell. He married Faye Conine
Findley on December 31, 1939 in
Hennepin.
He farmed and ranched most of
his life. He had a great love for
cattle and horses and always kept
his grandchildren supplied with
horses. He was an avid reader. His
family and especially his
grandchildren were the highlights of
his life. He will always be
remembered for his loving and kind-
hearted ways.
Mr. Grimes was preceded in death
by his parents, Mac and Ethel
Grimes; three brothers, Roy, Flake
and Ed Grimes; and one sister
Dessie Eppler.
He is survived by his wife, Faye,
of the home; one son, Dave
Grimes, and his wife, Sherrie, of
Heborn, Kentucky; one daughter,
Carolyn Hunter, of Norman; one
sister, Estelle Patterson, of
Holiday, Texas; five grandchildren,
David Grimes, Scott Grimes,
Michelle Tadaki, Juli Robinson,
and Rebecca Sexton; and nine great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Grimes
were held June 13, 2003 at the
Hillcrest Baptist Church of
Wynnewood with Reverend Gerald
Clark and Reverend Gary Crawford
officiating. Burial was in the Katie
Cemetery. Services were under the
direction of the Wooster Funeral
Home.

Coy Katherine “Pete” Turner of
Maysville was born to Hanse
Jenson and Mandy Orndors on May
28, 1926 in Pernell and passed
away at her home in Maysville on
June 9,2003 at the age of 77.
She married Fred B. Turner in
Pauls Valley on August 10, 1946.
She lived in the Maysville area her
entire life. She was a member of
the Wallville Holiness Church. She
enjoyed quilting and taking care of

Julie Gwen Adams of Boeme,
Texas, formerly of Lindsay, was
born on December 31, 1961 to
Johnny Hearon and Betty Shepard
Briscoe and passed away on June
12, 2003 at Boerne, Texas at the
age of 41.
She lived in Lindsay area as a
younger child. She later moved to
Texas, and attended school at John
Marshall High School in San
Antonio, Texas. She was a
bookkeeper for TMA of San
Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in
death by one brother, Johnny Alan
Hearon in 1997.
She is survived by her husband,
J. T. Smith of Boerne, Texas; her
mother, Betty Briscoe, of
Oklahoma City; her father, Johnny
Hearon of Castroville, Texas; three
sisters, Rhonda, Barbara and
Lindsay Hearon of San Antonio,
Texas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Adams
were June 17, 2003 at the Calvary
Baptist Church of Lindsay with
Reverend Steve Gardner officiating.
Burial was in the Green Hill
Cemetery of Lindsay. Services were
under the direction of the John
Williams of Winans Funeral Home
of Maysville.
Clifford B. Tolbert
Clifford Bryant Tolbert of Pauls
Valley was born on January 5,
1908 in El Reno the youngest son
of Francis and Amelia Tobert and
passed away at his home on June
16,2003 at the age of 95.
He moved with his family to
Pauls Valley in 1922. He graduated
from Pauls Valley High School in
1927 and then attended Oklahoma
University, where he majored in
Agriculture. He married Mary
Elizabeth Quinill on July 8, 1933.
“Cliff was a bookkeeper and
manager of Pecas Valley Alfalfa
Milling Company for 16 years. In
1946 he and “Dick” Longmire
formed the Washita Valley Grain
Company, and later they bought the
Pauls Valley Milling Company. In
1960 they opened the “Town and
Country”, store carrying a wide
variety of merchandise from kitchen
appliances, tools and the latest
gadgets, toys and vet supplies.

Cecil Earl Harbison of Elmore
City was born December 24, 1921
in Whitebead and passed away June
12, 2003 in Purcell at the age of
81.
He grew up and attended schools
in Maysville and Texas. He served
his country during WWII with the
U.S. Army and was stationed in
New Guinea. He married Ruby Lee
Robbins on August 11, 1945 in
Tishomingo. They moved to
Antioch in 1957. He worked as a her family,
