Oklahoma can be proud of its
young men and women. Last
week, I visited Girls State, which
was underway in Ada, and
earlier this week I visited Boys
State in Stillwater. The fine you.
ng men and women participating
in these two programs are to be
commended upon their citizen,
ship and their interest in their
state and country. In thes, tur.
bulent days, it is reassuring to enthusiasm.

CAPITOL RECAP
Tha Republican Governor’s
Conference which open? in Tuka
Friday should be a real boo t
for Oklahoma’s economy and for ■
our image.
In addition to being host to a
majority of th, nation s gover
nor’s we will be thrust into the
national spotlight and every ac.
tion we take during the confer-
ence will form the impression
our distinguished visitors take
home with them.
We will be fortunate to have
a large number of the nation’s
most highly respected and auth.
oratative newsmen at the con.
ference, and we are taking steps
given the accurate picture of Ok.
lahoma ac it is today.
I have proclaimed June as
Flag Month in Oklahoma in the
hope that all Oklahomans will
fly the flag at home 4d business
during the month, and during
the conference.
A show of patriotism and
pride in Oklahoma at this time
is especially desirable, and I
urge everyone to fly their flags
and since June has also been
proclaimed Anti-litter month,
I’m hopeful we’ll remove litter
from streets and yards and put
our best face forward.
