Eastern A&M’s Mountaineers will attempt a second victory
over conference opponent Oklahoma Military Academy here
tonight at 7:30. Eastern defeated the Cadets at Claremore
last Tuesday, 78-69. Friday night the Mountaineers host

Bracket for the National
Junior College Region 2 Bas-
ketball Tournament has been
drawn up with the first games
being played Tuesday, March
1, in Oral Roberts University
gymnasium in Tulsa.
Eastern, seeded No. 4
behind Cameron, (21-2) Mur-
ray (18-2) and OMA (15-5)
will play St. Gregory’s in the
first round.
All first round games will
be played March 1 at 2, 4, 7
and 9 p.m. but the game for
each time has not been set.
Connors and Ft. Smith
play Tuesday at 6 p.m. (prior
to the Eastern-OMA confer-
ence game) in the Eastern
Fieldhouse to see who meets
Cameron in the first round
That winner plays the Eas-
tem-St. Gregory's winner
Wednesday at 7 or 9 p.m.
in the other half of the
bracket, OMA plays North-
eastern A&M and the winner
meets the Murray- Northern-
Bacone winner. Northern and
Bacone meet this week to
decide the entry.
Finals of the tournament
will be Friday, March 4, at
8 p.m.
Tickets for adults and
students will be $1.50 and $1
at the gate but may be pur-
chased for $.25 off in the
Dean of Students office before
going to Tulsa.
Globetrotters and Cobras
emerge as Red and Blue
division leaders going into
the final rounds of the Boys
Intramural Basketball league.
The Globetrotters (6-1) top-
ped the Unbeatables (5-2), 55-
38, Thursday night in an
important Red division
game.
The Globetrotters rolled to
a 25-11 halftime lead and
poured it on the second half
for the 55-38 win. Cary
Wilber was high for the
winners with 20, and Dom
Rainey and Joe Patterson
hit 14 and 13.
In other key games since
the last newspaper, the Cow-
boys upset the Unbeatables,
41-38, Feb. 14 as Gerald
Robinson and Roy Willis fuel-
ed the victors with 17 and 12
points each. John Bell’s
17 points shot the Unbeatables
past the All-Stars, 47-34, as
Rick Trammell added 10
points.
The Cobras (5-0) defeated
the Squirrels (5-1), 40-27,
for the Blue division lead as
the regular season.
In non-conference action
Thursday night, Eastern had
to go into one overtime to
defeat Ft. Smith, 68-67, at
Ft. Smith. The regulation
game ended 57-57. Larry
Bickford led both teams in
scoring with 30 points. Wilbert
Roberson, Randy Petit and
Roy Hogan each hit 8 points
and Chet West added 7. Rober-
son and Mike Gold fouled out.
OMA led Eastern, 33-32, at
the intermission of the Feb.
15 game. The Cadets held
their 1-point advantage going
into the last period, but the
Mountaineers put up a 4th
quarter battle for 26 points to
OMA’s 16. Leading the scoring
for Eastern were 4 Mountain-
eers in the double figure
column: Wilbert Roberson
with 18; Chet West and Larry
Bickford who added 17 and 16,
and Randy Petit with 14. Top
scorers for the Cadets were
Couch with 19 and Rimer with
17.
“Aggies” were bad news for
Eastern Feb. 8 and 10, with
the Mountaineers dropping
games to the Connors Aggies,
51-50, and the Murray
Aggies, 71-63.
At Warner Feb. 8, Eastern
and Connors leveled off to 17
-17 in the first period and
dueled to a 26-26 halftime
score.
Conference-leading Murray
held Eastern down 21-10 in
the first quarter, but the
Mountaineers smashed back
in the 2nd to edge Murray,
31-33, at the half. Eastern
overtook the Aggies in the 3rd
